How to Get the Reins of Valiance

Patch 10.1.5 furthered the storyline of the latest expansion of World of Warcraft, Dragonflight. The standout feature of this patch was undoubtedly the introduction of the challenging mega-dungeon, known as Dawn of the Infinite. Alongside this formidable dungeon, players also had the opportunity to participate in a new public event and engage in whelp daycare.

While many of these new additions were showcased and well-documented in the launch trailer, there were certain hidden surprises waiting for players to uncover. One such surprise was the resurrection of the old Tier 3 armor sets from Naxxramas. However, this is not the sole secret awaiting discovery. Once the mysteries of Naxxramas are unraveled, players are rewarded with the opportunity to obtain a new mount known as Valiance.

Craft a Grappling Hook

Valiance is located in the stables of the Military Quarter within Naxxramas. However, prior to venturing after this mount, players must complete several small tasks. Along the way, they will encounter new areas that can only be accessed with the help of a grappling hook.

Firstly, locate the outer ring of Naxxramas, which serves as a connection between the four quarters. There, you will find a pool of green slime from which you should fish to obtain Abomination's Chain. Proceed to the Construct Quarter and enter one of the initial rooms containing numerous vats. Attached to the bottom of one of these vats is a hook. Lastly, make your way to the Arachnid Quarter and defeat Grand Widow Faerlina in order to obtain Faerlina's Sewing Kit.

Once you have acquired all three components, you will be able to construct the Makeshift Grappling Hook. It is important to note that no specific profession is necessary for crafting this item.

Find Zackett Skullsmash

With the crafted Makeshift Grappling Hook, players will gain access to previously inaccessible areas. This versatile tool is considered an account-wide ability. Prior to advancing, it is crucial to procure at least two bottles of Stratholme Holy Water from Stratholme. Proceed to the Construct Quarter and eliminate Thaddius. Once the room is clear, return to the entrance and ascend the left platform.

Look for a small black object and right click on it in order to utilize the Makeshift Grappling Hook and ascend to that location. Afterward, turn around and promptly employ the next object to securely fasten onto a diminutive platform. Proceed towards the right and employ the grappling hook once again, this time to traverse to the alternate platform.

Walk around and direct your gaze upwards, seeking out the green windows. There, you'll find your next target to latch onto using your grapple. Proceed to the right and navigate the ledge with caution. At the opposite end of the chamber, you'll discover yet another point to engage your grappling mechanism.

This one presents a considerable challenge, as players must position themselves precisely on the very edge of the platform in order to effectively interact with the object and utilize the grappling mechanism. Take a single step forward and initiate the grapple towards the opposite side. Now proceed cautiously towards the alcove on the right to uncover the lifeless body of a goblin named Zackett Skullsmash.

How to Wake Up Zacket Skullsmash

To proceed, obtain the Strathome Holy Water and employ it on Zacket Skullsmash. He will then offer players a quest that necessitates the acquisition of 20 Invader's Scourgestones, five Corruptor's Scourgestones, three Dark Runes, and one Black Coffee. Invader's Scourgestones can be obtained by defeating bosses in Stratholme and Scholomance. Corruptor's Scourgestones are acquired by defeating bosses in Naxxramas, regardless of whether it is the 10-man or 25-man version. Dark Runes are a rare drop from foes in Scholomance. Finally, Black Coffee may be purchased from Kevin Browning in Shattrath City.

After collecting all these items, make your way back to Zacket Skullsmash. Remember to bring an additional Stratholme Holy Water, as he is currently in a dormant state. Hand over the gathered items to successfully complete the quest. As an added perk, players will receive an item that can be used to obtain the bracers for their desired Tier 3 Armor set (given they possess the necessary materials).

At this juncture, players have the opportunity to procure Death's Bargaining Chips and utilize them for acquiring items from Zacket. These valuable chips can be obtained through the exchange of a variety of items.

Zacket provides a wide range of items, which includes crafting recipes for Tier 3 Armor for eligible players. However, to obtain Valiance, players should gather 30 Death's Bargaining Chips and acquire Rotten Delicious.

After completing this quest, Zacket will relocate to the central chamber in Naxxramas and remain there. There will be no need for further visits to the Construct Quarter!

Go to the Military Quarter

How to Get the Reins of Valiance

To proceed, ensure that Naxxramas is set to a 10-man difficulty. Valiance can only be obtained in a 10-man setting. Approach Valiance, as indicated in the image above, and utilize the Rotten Delicious item to feed it. By knocking back Valiance, you will notice a subtle change in its emote.

This emote signifies that players are prepared for the last phase of this covert operation. Proceed towards the arena where Instructor Razuvious awaits. Employ one of the crystals to manipulate the mind of one of the Death Knight Understudies.

While controlling the Death Knight Understudy, escort them to Valiance, where they will automatically mount an undead steed. Return the Death Knight Understudy to the arena and right-click on their portrait to release them from mind control. Defeat both the Death Knight Understudy and Instructor Razuvious. Once the boss is defeated (which will likely happen with a single hit if players are at level 60 or higher), loot Instructor Razuvious to obtain the Reins of Valiance. Congratulations on acquiring the new mount!
