Blade, the enigmatic Stelleron Hunter, emerges as a playable character in Honkai: Star Rail's Version 1.2 update. Intriguingly, he has shed his mortal façade and transformed into a living blade, forsaking his original form. Steeped in lore, this exceptional swordsman wields awe-inspiring skills. Moreover, his remarkable gameplay abilities make him an indomitable force, enticing players to enlist him in their squads.
Blade's kit in Honkai: Star Rail revolves around sacrificing his own HP in order to enhance his damage, similar to how Hu Tao operates in Genshin Impact, another successful game developed by HoYoVerse. As a result, Blade can deplete his HP through both his Skill and Ultimate abilities. After using his skill (which doesn't consume skill points or generate energy), Blade enters a state where his Basic ATK is strengthened, allowing him to deal even greater damage. His main method of inflicting damage relies on his Basic ATK, which takes into account his maximum HP, the amount of HP lost, and a slight ATK scaling. Therefore, Blade greatly benefits from having defensive and healing characters in his team compositions. Additionally, his Talent enables him to self-heal up to a specific percentage. The team compositions below provide examples where each character is only used once, but players have the freedom to freely change the compositions.
5 Blade + Dan Heng + Asta + March 7th
For players looking to assemble a completely F2P team, with only Blade available as the 5-star Gacha option, this composition offers a pleasurable gaming experience. This team is comprised of two wind DPS characters, making it an exceptional choice when facing Wind enemies. In addition, Asta provides a substantial speed boost to the team, while Dan Heng can diminish the speed of the opposing enemies, giving the team a frequent advantage in turns.
4 Blade + Pela + Fire Trailblazer + Natasha
In addition, Asta's Skill provides an attack boost that is particularly advantageous for Dan Heng, as it has high modifiers for weakening enemies' defenses. However, Blade and March 7th will not benefit as greatly from the attack boost due to their limited attack scaling capabilities. March 7th serves as a defensive option and is an outstanding F2P character who can also inflict damage with her subsequent attacks. Nevertheless, players have the flexibility to replace her with Natasha if they desire to do so.
An alternative choice that is relatively more F2P-friendly is to consider using Natasha and Fire Trailblazer together, and complementing them with the addition of Pela. While Pela is currently only obtainable through Gacha, acquiring this character is still comparatively easier when compared to obtaining 5-star characters. This team composition focuses on a highly defensive strategy by incorporating both Natasha and Fire Trailblazer. Despite its defensive nature, it still retains significant damage potential, primarily due to the inclusion of Pela.
3 Blade + Tingyun + Arlan + Bailu
While the current Harmony characters primarily focus on boosting ATK, which doesn't greatly benefit Blade, Pela, as a Nihility character, possesses the ability to lower enemy DEF. This feature synergizes well with Blade and enhances the sub-DPS potential of Fire Trailblazer. Additionally, Pela can dispel buffs from enemies, while Natasha can remove debuffs from targeted allies. This effective teamwork allows for a balanced offense and defense approach.
Blade proves to be a valuable asset, even in content that emphasizes the need for Lightning characters, thanks to the enemies' vulnerability to their elemental abilities. While Blade may not benefit greatly from Tingyun's ATK boost, it can still greatly benefit Arlan, a character who amplifies his attacks by sacrificing HP, despite his reliance on ATK. However, Tingyun can still provide support for Blade through her Ultimate ability, which grants Energy and enhances speed when players have access to her Eidolons.
2 Blade + Bronya + Silver Wolf + Gepard
With both Arlan and Blade specializing in destruction, this team composition provides versatility by allowing players to effectively deal with both area-of-effect and single target damage. Moreover, Bailu's ability to perform area-of-effect heals ensures smooth team functionality, preventing any members from being defeated by powerful targeted attacks when their health is at a low level. Additionally, in the event of such an occurrence, Bailu can even revive a fallen ally.
A highly recommended team setup for Blade involves the inclusion of Bronya and Silver Wolf, although it does require the use of 5-star characters. Bronya, being a top-tier support character, brings unique advantages to Blade that surpass the abilities of many other Harmony characters. With her assistance, Blade gains the ability to Advance forward and enjoys an enhanced damage output for his next attack. Moreover, her Ultimate delivers significant ATK and Crit DMG boosts to the entire team.
1 Blade + Welt + Yukong + Luocha
Silver Wolf, much like Pela, effectively lowers the DEF of adversaries, providing a significant advantage for Blade. Moreover, she possesses the capability to impose Wind vulnerability upon enemies, thereby expanding Blade's versatility as a DPS choice across a variety of content. Gepard fulfills the role of a defensive character within this composition, offering valuable assistance to players, especially in demanding situations where all allied members might otherwise suffer considerable damage.
Blade and Luocha's synergy is remarkably strong due to Luocha's healing ability. Whenever they attack, Luocha can heal them, and if their HP falls below 50%, Luocha can follow up with another healing attack. Blade's Ultimate allows him to regularly reach this threshold, enabling Luocha to continuously activate this effect without using any skill points. As a result, it becomes effortless for them to regenerate Abyss Flower stacks and maintain their healing field.
In addition, the team includes two additional Imaginary characters, Yukong and Welt, which greatly enhances its effectiveness against enemies vulnerable to Imaginary abilities. Moreover, Welt excels as a sub-DPS character by not only reducing enemy speed but also providing various buffs to the team, including increased ATK, Crit Rate, and Crit DMG. Meanwhile, Yukong strengthens the team's damage output by offering additional buffs specifically designed to enhance Imaginary abilities.
