Fire Trailblazer: A Defensive Powerhouse

Fire Trailblazer is an elemental form of the main character in Honkai: Star Rail that players can unlock by progressing through the story quest in Jarilo-VI. This character is highly sought after in the early game due to its exceptional defensive support capabilities. As a Preservation path character, Fire Trailblazer can generate AoE shields for the entire team, making it an invaluable asset during battles. In addition, Fire Trailblazer possesses a unique taunt ability that is not available in other characters' kits.

To enhance Fire Trailblazer's effectiveness, players should equip suitable light cones that provide additional benefits when this character is attacked. These light cones are particularly useful for other Preservation characters such as Gepard or March 7th, as they also scale with DEF. With these light cones, players can efficiently swap between defensive characters in Honkai: Star Rail while conserving resources.

Amber is a top-notch choice for Fire Trailblazer's 3-star light cone option. Its DEF increase is unconditional and greatly improves the effectiveness of their kit. Plus, Fire Trailblazer can easily drop below 50% HP due to their ability to taunt enemies, making it consistent to activate Amber's secondary effect, especially in tough battles. This grants Fire Trailblazer a significant boost in DEF, particularly when Amber is superimposed. Despite its rarity, obtaining Amber is not a particularly difficult feat, making it an excellent free-to-play option for those who prefer a fully free-to-play gameplay experience without relying heavily on higher rarity light cones.

This Is Me! is a light cone option that can greatly enhance the defensive and offensive utility of Fire Trailblazer. While it provides a lower DEF increase compared to other options, it can still benefit Fire Trailblazer by boosting their Ultimate's potential based on DEF. This becomes particularly useful in handling multiple mobs with an AoE attack and maintaining a defensive stance, making it a favorable choice for players who do not require other options like Carve the Moon or Weave the Clouds. However, it can only be obtained by purchasing Nameless Glory and reaching level 30 to obtain one of the options.

While Fire Trailblazer does not receive an additional DEF stat bonus from Landau's Choice, players who have invested in enough DEF may find the additional tanking utility to be beneficial. The first part of the effect, which provides a taunt, may not be significant in most cases, but the damage reduction can greatly enhance Fire Trailblazer's tankiness. However, if players plan on using Gepard and Fire Trailblazer in different sides of Forgotten Hall, the light cone from Landau's Choice may be better suited for Gepard as it aligns more closely with his kit, while Fire Trailblazer has other options to choose from.

Day One of My New Life is a 4-star light cone that is a perfect fit for Fire Trailblazer. It enhances Fire Trailblazer's DEF stat, making them more durable and providing stronger shields for allies. Additionally, it increases the team's overall defensive capabilities by boosting their damage resistance. This light cone is particularly useful in the early game or for players who haven't fully upgraded their Fire Trailblazer and can't rely solely on their DEF stat or additional DPS potential due to being under-leveled or under-geared.

While Texture of Memories may not fully benefit Fire Trailblazer, players can still utilize Moment of Victory, a 5-star light cone obtained through gacha or the shop, for significant unconditional and conditional DEF boosts. With the taunt ability and increased chance of being attacked, this light cone is the optimal choice for Fire Trailblazer. The Effect Hit Rate bonus also makes it a viable option for teams focused on Burn damage. Honkai: Star Rail is now available on Android, iOS, and PC, with a PlayStation version in development.
