Understanding Autobuild & Schema Stones in Tears of the Kingdom

In Tears of the Kingdom, Autobuild is the final Ability that Link can acquire, and it cannot be obtained during the tutorial phase on the Great Sky Island. However, it is a valuable tool that allows players to reconstruct their previously built vehicles using the Ultrahand Ability. For those who prefer a more straightforward building process, there are Schema Stones.

Schema Stones are blueprint-like guides that can be acquired from Steward Constructs. They offer a range of simple to complex devices for players to construct. In total, there are 10 Schema Stones in Tears of the Kingdom, with all but one obtainable from the Abandoned Mines in The Depths.

To obtain Autobuild, players must venture into the Great Abandoned Central Mine, located in The Depths beneath the Great Plateau. Starting from Nihcayam Lightroot (-0705, -0867, 00481), head south towards -0823, -1948, -0523 to reach the ancient temple ruins that house the mine.

Defeating Master Kohga of the Yiga is necessary to obtain Autobuild. Once acquired, using L-button will bring up a menu displaying "Favorited" inventions, "Schematics," and "Previous Inventions." While previously-made inventions will disappear as Link builds more with Ultrahand, anything Favorited or part of the Schematics will remain.

Schematics are blueprints for Zonai inventions, only accessible with a Schema Stone. Each abandoned mine in The Depths has an inactive Steward Construct who will grant Link a Schema Stone once activated.

Collecting Schema Stones in Breath of the Wild is essential for players who want to create all of the game's inventions. To use a Schema Stone, select an invention from the "Schematics" menu. If Link does not have all the necessary parts, players can use Zonaite to make up for them. It is recommended to use a Schematic when there are nearby parts or a Zonai Dispenser if possible. With 10 Schema Stones to collect, players should explore every abandoned mine in The Depths. However, two Schema Stones can be found elsewhere, including one on The Surface in a location familiar to Breath of the Wild players. Here is a list of each Schema Stone and how to obtain them:

- Fanplane

Located at the Great Abandoned Central Mine (-0823, -1948, -0523), the Fanplane Schema Stone awaits players who have defeated Master Kohga for the first time and received the Fanplane from the Steward Construct. A tutorial on the Autobuild ability, this Schema Stone is a must-have for every player who completes the "Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan" Side Adventure. The Fanplane, a Zonai wing equipped with three Zonai fans, moves forward with ease. However, it lacks a Steering Stick, meaning that Link will require one in his inventory to steer it.

- Hot-Air Balloon

To acquire the Hot-Air Balloon Schema Stone in the game, players must first receive the Camera Rune from Robbie and complete at least one Temple. Afterward, they can speak to Josha at Lookout Landing for the side quest "A Mystery in the Depths." If players have already obtained the Autobuild Ability and Fanplane Schema Stone from "Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan" quest, they can speak to Josha again after completing "Camera Work in the Depths" to obtain the Hot-Air Balloon Schema Stone.

- Dirigible

The Dirigible Schema Stone can be obtained by visiting the Abandoned Lurelin Mine located at coordinates 2944, -3336, -0454. In order to receive the Stone, players must first clear out the Yiga Clan Members and then speak to the Steward Construct. An alternative method involves wearing the complete Yiga Set to activate the Constructs without having to engage in a battle.

Unlike the Hot-Air Balloon, the Dirigible Schema Stone is equipped with torches and Zonai flame-emitters. Even if the flame-emitters run out of fuel, the torches will keep the Dirigible airborne until the Zonai balloons disappear.

- Hovercraft

Located in the Abandoned Gerudo Mine (-3846, -2945, -0487), the Hovercraft Schema Stone awaits players in the "Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan" side adventure. To obtain it, players must first defeat Kohga in his flying mobile and retrieve the stone from the Steward Construct. The Autobuild Ability is necessary to access the Abandoned Mine. The best strategy to defeat Kohga is to use the Zonai Springs to jump into the air and shoot arrows at him. When exploring The Depths, the Hovercraft is a reliable mode of transport as it keeps Link immune to the darkness.

- Bolt Boat

Located at the Abandoned Lanayru Mine (3255, 0592, -0750), the Bolt Boat Schema Stone can only be obtained after defeating Kohga in the third part of the "Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan" quest. This battle takes place on the water, but can be made easier with Yunobo's Spirit, which can be used to fire at Kohga's boat from a distance. Once Kohga is defeated, speak to the nearby Steward Construct to receive the Schema Stone for the Bolt Boat, equipped with a powerful Zonai shock emitter.

- Beam Cycle

Master Autobuild with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Schema Stones

Located in the Shrine of Resurrection on the Great Plateau, the Beam Cycle Schema Stone is a valuable find for players of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. To obtain it, players must first make their way to the starting point on the Great Plateau and enter the Shrine of Resurrection. From there, they will need to defeat the Yiga Clan members in the cave and be sure to have the Autobuild Ability to receive the Beam Cycle Schema Stone from the Steward Construct. Without this ability, players will have to return later. Don't miss out on this crucial Schema Stone on The Surface.

- Bridge

To obtain the Bridge Schema Stone, players must first clear out the Yiga Clan at the Abandoned Hateno Mine (3561, -2210, -0588) and then retrieve it from the Steward Construct. While the Bridge Schema Stone may not be as useful as other Schema Stones, as players can create their own bridges and vehicles using Hudson Construction boards, it can still come in handy in situations where building materials are scarce, such as on the Sky Islands.

- Instant Scaffold

Located at the Abandoned Kara Kara Mine (-3209, -2470, -0475), the Instant Scaffold Schema Stone may not be the most impressive tool, but it certainly has its advantages. Despite its simple appearance, the Scaffold's unique stacking design allows Link to use Ascend on it. To obtain the Instant Scaffold, players must first eliminate the Yiga Clan at the mine and retrieve it from the Construct.

- Rocket Platform

Located at the Abandoned Hebra Mine (-3478, 1885, -0417), the Rocket Platform Schema Stone is the ultimate reward for players who have successfully completed "Master Kohga of the Yiga Clan" and tracked down Ganondorf's location. However, obtaining this valuable device won't be a walk in the park as it requires the help of the fifth sage and can only be obtained in the end-game. Once activated, the Rocket Platform will propel Link into the sky, where he'll remain elevated with the help of the Gravity Stone, as long as the Zonai Battery doesn't deplete.

- Automated Ally

Master Autobuild with Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom's Schema Stones

Located at the Abandoned Eldin Mine (1641, 2393, -0824), the Automated Ally Schema Stone is a useful tool for players who require additional firepower to take down enemies. This Zonai device senses and attacks enemies, making it a valuable asset for players who do not possess all the Spirits. The Abandoned Eldin Mine is situated adjacent to the Fire Temple, accessible from the chasm on Death Mountain. Players are granted access to the Fire Temple while progressing through the "Yunobo of the Goron" main quest.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch.
