One tip from a Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom fan has surfaced online, providing players with a helpful way to survive any hit in Nintendo's latest Switch exclusive. This insight is particularly useful for early encounters with Gloom Hands and other dangerous Tears of the Kingdom enemies.
Tears of the Kingdom builds upon Breath of The Wild, inheriting most of its predecessor's mechanics, resulting in a familiar feel for players. However, many have found it to be even more challenging than the previous game, frequently struggling with low health. Keeping Link at maximum health is crucial in Tears of the Kingdom, and failing to do so is one of the most common mistakes to avoid.
As noted by TheBestWorst3 on Reddit, if Link has full health, he can survive any single hit, no matter how powerful. Even if he receives a fatal amount of damage, having topped up health will always leave him with one-quarter of a heart. This applies regardless of the number of hearts the player has unlocked, making it easier to take advantage of the game's pity system with a smaller overall health pool.
This same mechanic was also present in Breath of the Wild, but it will likely be more beneficial in its sequel. This is because the Great Fairies of Tears of the Kingdom demand more armor upgrades, resulting in players having a weaker Link for a greater portion of the game. Therefore, it's crucial to keep Link at full health to prevent being defeated in one hit by enemies.
However, relying solely on this trick is not foolproof since some enemies can strike Link multiple times in quick succession, leaving him vulnerable. Additionally, certain attacks could send the protagonist flying far enough to suffer fall damage. It's worth noting that this hack is not a reliable solution for surviving strong elemental attacks, as they often have lingering effects that can quickly finish off a weakened Link in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Despite these limitations, this trick is still useful in the early game when players are likely to encounter straightforward enemies that hit hard. And if all else fails, players can always opt to build a Tears of the Kingdom attack drone that allows Link to take a break while it causes chaos from above.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Switch.
