Highlights
On October 17, PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers will bid farewell to 16 games, including renowned titles such as Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5, and critically acclaimed indie gems Inside and Limbo.
Take advantage of the remaining time to play these games, particularly considering the short playtime of titles like Inside and Limbo. Given that October is the spooky season, it may be wise for subscribers to prioritize playing the horror games that will be removed, such as The Medium and The Quarry, before they become unavailable.
On October 17, the PlayStation Plus subscription service will be removing a total of 16 games from its Extra and Premium tiers. Unlike the core PlayStation Plus service which allows users to keep free games as long as they remain subscribed, the Extra and Premium tiers function more like Netflix or Xbox Game Pass, where games are regularly cycled in and out of availability.
New games are typically added to the PS Plus Extra and Premium tiers in the middle of the month, while other games are simultaneously removed during that time. This pattern will continue with the October 2023 updates, with a total of 13 games being removed from PS Plus Extra and an additional three titles being taken away from PS Plus Premium subscribers.

Several noteworthy games will no longer be available on PS Plus Extra and Premium starting October 2023, prompting subscribers to seize the opportunity and play them while they still can. Far Cry 4 and Far Cry 5 are both highly acclaimed installments in Ubisoft's popular open-world FPS franchise, while Inside and Limbo are widely recognized as two of the greatest indie games in existence. Inside, in particular, has received immense critical acclaim. Both of these games have relatively short gameplay durations, allowing PS Plus Extra subscribers ample time to complete them before they are removed from the platform on October 17.
Subscribers may want to take advantage of the spooky season in October to play a few horror games that will be removed next month. One such game is The Medium, a survival-horror title developed by Bloober Team, which draws inspiration from Konami's Silent Hill series. Reviews for The Medium have been largely positive, with many considering it to be one of Bloober Team's best games to date. Another game to consider is The Quarry, a more recent release from Supermassive Games, the studio behind Until Dawn. Similar to Until Dawn, The Quarry provides an interactive horror movie experience. Additionally, it offers the option to play cooperatively, adding to its appeal as a party game.
