The official cover art for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received a makeover by a dedicated fan, drawing inspiration from Neversoft's classic PS1 game. Revealed at Summer Game Fest 2023, the cover art was unveiled along with the highly anticipated release date.

Continuing the narrative from Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature both Peter Parker and Miles as playable protagonists in the main storyline. Together, they will join forces to confront formidable adversaries such as Kraven the Hunter and Lizard. Additionally, Peter will don his beloved Symbiote suit in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, enhancing his combat skills and unleashing a more aggressive side. During the Summer Game Fest 2023 showcase, the release date of October 20 was announced by Geoff Keighley and Insomniac Games' Bryan Inithar, accompanied by the official cover art.

Taneto90, a devoted Spider-Man fan, recently took it upon themselves to pay tribute to the classic Neversoft-developed Spider-Man game from the PlayStation 1 era. They skillfully edited the official cover of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, incorporating elements from the beloved Neversoft game. Notably, the cover now features the iconic font from the original Spider-Man game, along with a custom logo created by Taneto90. Furthermore, they went a step further by modifying the character models of Peter Parker and Miles Morales to resemble the polygonal models from the original PlayStation game. To truly capture the essence of the era, the newly edited cover art was even adjusted to the 4:3 aspect ratio commonly seen on cover art within PS1 video game cases.

Originally released in 2000, Neversoft's Spider-Man game delighted gamers on multiple platforms, including the PS1, Nintendo 64, and Game Boy Color. The game's popularity was such that it eventually received ports for the SEGA Dreamcast and Microsoft Windows a year later. The title was well-received by critics and players alike, garnering positive reviews at the time. Now, after nearly 23 years since its initial release, fans of the PlayStation will have the exhilarating opportunity to once again immerse themselves in a new Spider-Man adventure with the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

In the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2, players can expect a heartfelt homage to Neversoft's game and the beloved PlayStation titles. Insomniac Games aims to add to the rich history of Spider-Man games, and the passionate community is sure to express their enthusiasm through fan art and sharing moments from previous Marvel's Spider-Man games.

The game will offer an expansive rendition of New York City, giving players the opportunity to explore one of the most extensive open worlds ever created for a Spider-Man game. Additionally, players will have the chance to collect and don various suits while navigating the city and battling enemies. Although it remains uncertain if Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will feature costumes inspired by classic Spider-Man games, both Peter and Miles will have access to suits influenced by iconic Spider-Man comics.
