Marvel Fans Rejoice: Spider-Man 4 Rumors and Spider-Verse Release Date Raise Anticipation!

Sony Pictures has announced two new release dates for untitled Marvel movies: November 8, 2024, and June 27, 2025. This has sparked speculation about which films will occupy these slots, with many speculating that Venom 3 will be released in 2024 and Spider-Man 4 in 2025.

The third installment of Venom, featuring Tom Hardy reprising his role in the franchise, was previously rumored to be released in October 2024. With filming scheduled to begin later this year, it makes sense for the movie to be released in November 2024. As for the 2025 release date, Spider-Man 4 is a strong contender considering the current development status.

All Evidence Spider-Man 4 Could Release In 2025

The Spider-Man: No Way Home sequel is currently in the early stages of planning, with Holland recently sharing details of the discussions between Sony and Marvel regarding Spider-Man 4. According to Holland, it appears that they have successfully developed the story. However, due to the ongoing strike by the WGA, the progress on Spider-Man 4 has been halted. Once the strike is resolved and work can resume, the first step would be to find a screenwriter. Despite the challenges posed by the WGA strike and Holland's year-long break from acting (which he mentioned is already eight months in), there is still a possibility of releasing Spider-Man 4 in 2025.

Sony's lack of progress in developing other live-action movies makes it highly likely that Spider-Man 4 will take the 2025 release date. This is further supported by the fact that Spider-Verse 4 and the Spider-Woman spinoff are not designated for that date. One potential contender, Jackpot, has had no updates since 2020 when Marc Guggenheim was reported to be working on the script.

As of December 2022, Olivia Wilde remains attached to direct a female-centric Marvel movie for Sony, but no further updates have been disclosed.

The status of the movie about Marvel character Hypno-Hustler, starring and produced by Donald Glover, remains unknown since his live-action appearance in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and no further updates have been provided. While Sony has other live-action Marvel movies in development, it is more probable that the June 2025 release date is for Spider-Man 4. Future information about Holland's next Spider-Man movie or other projects may alter this, but currently, Spider-Man 4 is anticipated to be released in 2025.
