Mariah Carey expressed her sincere admiration for Britney Spears in response to being mentioned in the pop icon's shocking memoir. The 54-year-old singer made an appearance on the Thursday, November 2nd episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! where she discussed her beloved holiday anthem "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which continues to dominate the charts every year.
When host Jimmy Kimmel asked Carey for her thoughts on Spears’ book, The Woman in Me, the Queen of Christmas gave a glowing response.
“I love her, actually,” Carey gushed.
Kimmel proceeded to read the passage to Carey, who was hearing it for the first time. Spears, 41, described an interaction she had with Carey in the early 2000s, stating that when she knocked on Carey's dressing room door, she was greeted with a beautiful, otherworldly light pouring out. Spears also mentioned that at the time, only Carey knew about ring lights, which are now commonly used by all.
Curious about the accuracy of Spears' recollection, Kimmel asked Carey if it was true. In response, Carey confirmed that she did indeed have a ring light. She even shared her specific preference of covering the bottom edge of the ring light to avoid under lighting.
She added: “That’s super sweet what Britney said about me.”
During her appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!', Mariah Carey shared a memorable interaction with Britney Spears when she asked for a photo. According to Spears, Carey responded by instructing her to stand on a specific side so that Carey's good side could be captured in the photo. Spears admired Carey's deep and beautiful voice as she repeatedly mentioned her desire for her good side to be showcased. Spears happily followed Carey's instructions, resulting in a successful photo session.
Spears quipped that Carey was "absolutely right about everything" and praised their photo, saying it looked amazing. She confessed that despite winning an award that night, she couldn't even remember what it was because the real prize was capturing the perfect moment with Mariah Carey.
Released on October 24, Spears' memoir, which had been highly anticipated, became an instant success, selling 1 million copies in its first week. In the book, she unveils surprising revelations about her life and career, while also mentioning numerous celebrities including her former flame Justin Timberlake, Paris Hilton, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, and fellow Mickey Mouse Club alumni Ryan Gosling and Christina Aguilera.
Spears' book was written prior to her estranged husband, Sam Asghari, filing for divorce in August, just 14 months into their marriage. In the latest issue of We, an exclusive source disclosed that Spears intends to write a second memoir dedicated to addressing the reasons behind the deterioration of their relationship.
According to the source, Spears has no intention of seeking retribution against Sam. Rather, she simply wants to delve into the factors that led to the breakdown of their relationship.
