Maren Morris is embracing a fresh start as she celebrates her birthday and turns a year older.
"Hello, 34. The past year was quite the journey, but I have made it to the other side," Morris, who just turned 34, shared on Instagram on April 10. She also posted a series of photos from her birthday bash. "I am grateful for the amazing women in my life who helped me through it all. I can never thank you enough."
Morris celebrated her birthday by dressing up and going out to eat with her friends at Altro Paradiso in New York City. She shared pictures of the restaurant's menu and her group raising their wine glasses in a toast.
This birthday marks Morris' first since she filed for divorce from her ex-husband Ryan Hurd in October 2023 after being married for five years. They finalized their divorce in January 2024 after reaching an agreement late last year, and they have a son named Hayes, who is 4 years old.
The day before her birthday, Morris became emotional during a joint interview with CBS Mornings alongside her friend Karina Argow. She opened up about how Argow had been there for her after her breakup with Hurd.
Morris told Gayle King that Argow had been a constant source of support, saying, “This one has definitely carried me through a lot.” She fought back tears as she expressed her gratitude for having her friend by her side. Morris shared that while she loves her music and writing, it can be scary to be the only one in the spotlight. She cherished the opportunity to celebrate and share the moment with Argow, calling it a special gift.

Morris found the breakup to be challenging, but she is now looking ahead to the future. In an exclusive interview with Us, the musician shared her thoughts on the next phase of her life and how she is embracing her newfound single status.
Reflecting on her journey, Morris expressed, "For a long time, I was focused on being an artist and looking after others while on tour. I became so used to being in charge that I forgot to prioritize my own well-being." She went on to say, "I believe this is the perfect time for me to shift my focus and take better care of myself."
Morris is now prioritizing embracing her single life and learning to appreciate her own company.
She is also revamping her music career, deciding to move away from country music. Despite having a new album prepared before her breakup with Hurd, she found herself starting over creatively after their split.
"I feel like I'm starting over again, but I'm not as afraid as before. I feel really strong and confident right now," she shared with Us. "I'm enjoying the process of discovering my sound."
