Luke Bryan revealed that the extra padding on his body helped protect him from serious injury when he fell onstage during a recent concert. He mentioned to TMZ on Monday, April 22, that when he landed, the first thing he hit was a phone, whether it was due to a phone or a slippery stage.

During his performance at the Coast City Country Festival in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday, April 20, Bryan jokingly commented about his well-being when asked about injuries. He humorously replied, "Hey, I got a lot of meat back there."

Footage captured Bryan slipping on a fan's phone and abruptly falling on his back during the festival.

The country singer started laughing as he sat up and showed the phone to the audience.

"Wait, did anyone catch that?" Bryan asked the crowd while making sure he wasn't hurt. "No worries. My lawyer will be in touch."

He tossed the phone into the crowd and asked if anyone caught his fall on camera. He joked with an audience member, saying, "You're Snapchatting. You can't Snapchat this s–t." He laughed and said, "Oh, yes! Alright, here we go again. There I am, there we go … there it is! This is viral, alright, this is viral."

Bryan also laughed off his now-viral slip during the Sunday, April 21, episode of American Idol after host Ryan Seacrest referenced his tumble.

Seacrest, 49, jokingly asked Luke if he was moving okay and if he was injured. Luke initially pretended not to know what Seacrest was referring to but eventually gave an update after seeing the clip replayed, calling it "good old-fashioned foolishness."

"I'm doing great, baby!" he said with a smile. "It was honestly the highlight of the night."

Bryan's Canadian tour for Mind of a Country Boy is coming to an end on Thursday, April 25. The next stop for the country star will be in Jacksonville, Florida in June for the next leg of his tour.

Fans can catch Bryan on American Idol in between his tour dates. He has been a judge on the show since season 16 in 2018, alongside Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.

Even though Perry, who is 39, revealed in February that this season would likely be her last, Bryan confessed that he wasn't shocked by her announcement.

He mentioned that he had heard rumors about her considering leaving, so it wasn't a complete surprise to him. According to him, she may have made the announcement impulsively during an interaction with Jimmy Kimmel.

Perry believes that Jelly Roll would be a suitable successor for her on American Idol, once she decides to step down. On the other hand, Bryan stated to TMZ that he is not able to disclose his preferred choice for a new judge on the show.

“Anybody would be great,” he shared.

American Idol airs on ABC on Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
