Love Is Blind's Lydia Velez Gonzalez Spills Secrets on Thriving in a Long-Distance Marriage with Milton Johnson

The only successful couple from Love Is Blind's fifth season is Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson. However, they are currently not residing together.

Milton recently accepted a new position in Long Beach, California, while Lydia remains in Houston, Texas. "At the moment, our primary focus is on our professional lives," Lydia shared with Entertainment Weekly in an interview published on Monday, October 16. She added that she also began a new job approximately a month ago.

Milton, on the other hand, has been employed for a year, but recently found himself "relocated" to Long Beach. "We're still adjusting to this new routine, and on top of that, he's pursuing an MBA," Lydia shared. "Apparently, he's quite fond of studying and this is actually his second master's degree. We're determined to excel in our respective careers." Lydia acknowledged the difficulties they've faced in maintaining a long-distance relationship, but they're making every effort to overcome them.

“We deeply long for each other’s presence, so whenever we finally reunite, we make it a priority to appreciate and support one another wholeheartedly. The only hurdle we encounter is navigating through airports; I truly despise them. Nonetheless, overall, our time together has been nothing short of incredible.”

Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson tied the knot in the Love Is Blind season finale, which debuted on Friday, October 13. Milton revealed to We in an exclusive interview that their strong connection was due to their shared values and morals, as well as their aligned goals for the future. They felt an instant connection from the start and were determined to explore where their relationship could lead.

Lydia and Milton initially connected while inside the pods due to their shared professional backgrounds. Lydia, a geologist, found common ground with Milton, who works as an engineer in the oil and energy industry, as their work often involves dealing with rocks.

Milton expressed his admiration for Lydia, noting their similarities in career choices and both being born on islands. However, he also acknowledged a stark contrast in their emotional intelligence and willingness to be vulnerable. This disparity intrigued him, as he recognized that he may possess a tendency to be emotionally reserved and appreciated this opportunity to explore it further.
