Lil Tay is finally speaking out following a false statement posted on her Instagram account announcing her death.
She emphasized that both she and her brother are unharmed and alive, but she expressed her overwhelming sorrow and difficulty in articulating her emotions. The past 24 hours have been incredibly distressing for her.
TMZ interviewed her on Thursday, August 10, where she revealed that she had been inundated with countless heart-wrenching phone calls from concerned loved ones while attempting to unravel this chaotic situation.
Lil Tay strongly denounced the inaccurate information that was spread online, stating, "A third party gained unauthorized access to my Instagram account and disseminated misleading information and unfounded rumors about me, to the extent that they even got my name wrong. My actual legal name is Tay Tian, not 'Claire Hope.'"
This statement from the rapper follows an earlier post on her Instagram, which appeared to be made by her family.
The statement on Wednesday, August 9, announced the heartbreaking news of Claire's sudden and tragic death. We are at a loss for words to convey the immense loss and pain we are experiencing. This outcome was completely unexpected, leaving us all in a state of shock. In addition, the passing of her brother has added an unimaginable layer of grief to our already overwhelming emotions.
The social media post claimed that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother's deaths was still ongoing. Subsequently, the Instagram post has been removed.
"Amidst this period of deep sadness, we humbly request privacy while we mourn this insurmountable tragedy," stated the post, which has been removed. "Claire will always hold a place in our hearts, her absence creating an irreplaceable emptiness that will be felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing and cherishing her."
Shortly after, we received a reply from the email provided in Lil Tay's Instagram biography. "We express our utmost sorrow and sadly verify the truthfulness of the statement," read the comment.
Lil Tay's ex-manager, Harry Tsang, expressed doubts about the authenticity of the death announcement until she clarified the confusion. In a statement to Insider on Wednesday, Tsang acknowledged the complexities of the situation and emphasized the need for careful consideration and respect regarding the sensitivities involved. He reiterated his commitment to providing reliable updates at the appropriate time.
Lil Tay’s father, Christopher Hope, chose not to comment on the situation when approached by the New York Post on Wednesday. "Yes, you have the correct individual, but I am unable to provide any comments at this time. I apologize for my inability to comment." In 2021, Lil Tay’s brother, Jason Tian, accused their father of mistreating his sister. Hope, in response, refuted the allegations and expressed his dissatisfaction with his daughter's social media career.
