Lil Tay asserted that the Instagram post announcing her demise was a result of hacking, but her previous manager Harry Tsang harbors suspicions regarding the true nature of the incident.
Tsang expressed his opinion on Thursday, August 10, stating, "I hold the belief that she is still alive, and I perceive the entire ordeal as being fabricated. Claims of hacking do not persuade me, but I am relieved to hear that she is unharmed."
Fans were left in disbelief on Wednesday, August 9, upon hearing the alleged news of Lil Tay's passing, following her prolonged absence from social media for five years. An official statement released through her verified Instagram account conveyed the heart-wrenching message, declaring the sudden and tragic loss of their beloved Claire. The statement expressed the profound grief and immeasurable anguish felt by all, as this devastating outcome was entirely unforeseen and has left everyone in a state of shock. Furthermore, the statement mentioned the recent passing of Tay's brother, Jason Tian, adding that both deaths remain subjects of ongoing investigations.
The following day, TMZ interviewed Lil Tay, who confirmed that she is alive and stated that the previous statement was made by an unidentified third party.
"I want to clarify that my brother and I are safe and well, although I am filled with immense sadness and finding it difficult to express myself accurately. The past 24 hours have been incredibly traumatic," she revealed on Thursday. "Throughout the entire day yesterday, I received countless distressing phone calls from relatives, all while attempting to resolve this chaotic situation."
Lil Tay also disputed the accuracy of the statement by stating her correct legal name is Tay Tian and not 'Claire Hope.' According to New York magazine in 2019, her full name was reported as Claire Eileen Qi Hope and her birthdate as July 29, 2007, indicating that she would now be 16 years old.
Following the news of Tay's alleged death, Tsang, speaking to Insider, expressed his inability to definitively confirm or dismiss the authenticity of the statement supposedly issued by the Tian family. He emphasized the need for cautious consideration and respect for the sensitivities involved in this situation, stating, "My commitment continues to be focused on providing updates that are reliable and appropriately timed."
A cryptocurrency coin called Lil Tay emerged online shortly after the news of her alleged death was announced on Instagram. The coin was launched on the BNB Smart Chain and had a total supply of 100 coins. However, no one from the Tian family has taken credit for creating it. Tsang, on the other hand, stated that he had been working on a Lil Tay cryptocurrency but clarified that this particular coin was not his project. He informed the outlet that he had already issued a warning to everyone and took down the website and other related content.
