General Hospital fans are not the only ones thrilled to have Steve Burton back on the show. Laura Wright, his costar, is just as excited for his return.

In a behind-the-scenes video from his homecoming episode, which aired on Monday, March 4, Wright, who is 53 years old, expressed her happiness. She described Burton's comeback as perfect, like coming back home and feeling safe.

Wright portrays Carly Corinthos on the soap opera, who has shared a close friendship and romantic connection with Burton's character, Jason Morgan. In a video, the actress hinted that Carly is eagerly anticipating Jason's return to the fictional town of Port Charles.

"Having Jason reenter Carly's life ignites her loyalty and unwavering support for him," Wright expressed. "She stands by him through thick and thin, a quality not everyone can handle."

Jason’s appeal on the series is attributed to Burton’s portrayal and their shared characteristics, as noted by her. "It’s the same thing that connects us all to Steve, and I love this so much. It’s Jason and Steve, their integrity," Wright explained why fans resonate with the TV bad boy. "The character of Jason is willing to sacrifice for his loved ones, a trait that many of us admire but not everyone possesses. However, we can all relate to and appreciate it because it’s a quality we aspire to have."

Burton, who is 53 years old, shared his agreement with Wright. He mentioned, “I believe fans are drawn to characters who are often misunderstood and carry a lot of inner pain. Jason is portrayed as someone who is extremely loyal to his loved ones and will stand by them through thick and thin. I think this resonates with people, as many would appreciate having such loyalty in their own lives.”

In a lighter note, Burton humorously added, “I mean, if you ignore the whole criminal aspect, Jason is actually a pretty reliable and trustworthy guy.”

Maurice Benard, known for his role as Sonny Corinthos on the show, described Jason as a "sweeter bad boy" compared to his own character. He praised Jason for being an honest character with a lot of integrity and complimented his castmate, Burton, as a talented actor.

Benard, aged 61, referred to Burton as a "brother" and expressed how it feels like old times to have him back on set. On the other hand, Burton shared his excitement about returning to the set and being reunited with his fellow cast members.

Viewers first met Burton's Jason in 1991, and he portrayed the character until 2012. He returned to the role from 2017 to 2021 but was let go due to a disagreement over COVID vaccine protocols for filming.

Burton explained that he had sought exemptions for medical and religious reasons, as he didn't feel comfortable with the vaccination requirement for his job. Despite the denial of his request, he suggested that this might not be the end of Jason's presence on the show.

Burton hinted at his comeback to General Hospital in January during the 60th anniversary special. This announcement followed his departure from Days of Our Lives in 2023.

In a video posted on the “Daily Drama” podcast’s YouTube page last month, Burton excitedly confirmed his return date to General Hospital. He also gave fans a sneak peek of the set, promising that the upcoming storyline will be amazing.

On Monday's episode, viewers were surprised to see Burton return and discover that Jason was actually alive, despite their previous belief that he was dead. In 2021, Burton's character was presumed dead after a tunnel collapse, but his body was never found, leaving room for his return this season.

Don't forget to tune in to General Hospital on ABC weekdays at 3 p.m. ET to catch all the drama!
