Lakers Star Makes Animated Cameo in Crayon Shin-chan as a Guest Character

NBA star Rui Hachimura from the Los Angeles Lakers will be making a special appearance in an upcoming episode of the beloved and long-standing anime series, Crayon Shin-chan. The anime recently announced that Hachimura will play himself in a cameo role, using promotional images that showcase the NBA star in the show's signature art style. Titled "The Adventures of Buri Buri Zaemon: Space Dunk Edition," the episode is scheduled to premiere on November 4th. This particular storyline will revolve around the in-universe superhero Buri Buri Zaemon and the beloved protagonist, Shin-chan.

According to the official website of the anime, Hachimura will face a massive meteorite approaching Earth. In order to prevent its impact, he must achieve the most impressive slam dunk of his entire career. Hachimura also mentioned that this episode marked his first time participating in dubbing work for any project, where he provided his voice and appearance for the TV Asahi Network, which produces and broadcasts the show in Japan.

Crayon Shin-chan is a Japanese manga and anime series that revolves around the main character Shin-chan, a young boy who frequently finds himself involved in various troublesome situations and playful antics. The series first premiered in 1990 in Japan's Weekly Manga Action magazine published by Futabasha. It was later adapted into an anime series, which continues to be aired today and has gained immense popularity worldwide.

Rui Hachimura relocated from Japan to pursue college basketball in America after graduating from high school. He was subsequently scouted and drafted by the Washington Wizards, where he played as a small forward. However, he will soon be making a move to the Los Angeles Lakers later this year. Hachimura and his family are known to be avid fans of the show, and the player expressed his delight at appearing in the series, considering it a "dream come true." He also expressed interest in collaborating with the studio in the future, although the company has not announced any plans for such a collaboration at present.
