Controversial Twitch personality turned YouTuber, JiDion, has been banned from all NBA events following his behavior in a recent video. The divisive content creator chose to film his experiences at several WNBA games, which ultimately resulted in his expulsion not only from the WNBA, but also the NBA.
JiDion, also known by his full name JiDion Adams, is a popular YouTuber known for his comedic vlogging content. He often engages in various pranks, targeting the public. Under the pseudonym "DeMarcus Cousins III," JiDion gained notoriety after being banned from Twitch last year for launching a hate raid against renowned streamer Pokimane. However, the two later reconciled, as evidenced by their collaboration video after the initial conflict.
The video in question, titled "Don't Sleep on the WNBA!" showcases JiDion's humorous attempt to literally sleep on the WNBA. He humorously gathers sleep gear from a local Target but gets swiftly kicked out. Undeterred, the YouTube sensation attends a Minnesota Lynx game wearing pajamas and holding a pillow. In a daring move, he even attempts a shot with a ball that went out of play, resulting in his immediate expulsion from the arena. Nevertheless, undeterred by the setback, JiDion charters a flight to an Atlanta Dream game, where he boldly takes a nap in the front row.
JiDion was repeatedly warned to stop buying multiple seats to enable laying down at the Dream's stadium. Eventually, he was escorted out of the stadium and informed by the security outside that he is now banned from all WNBA and NBA events. This incident is not the first time JiDion has been kicked out of a professional sporting event. Previously, he was expelled from the US Open last year for getting a haircut during a match, although he did not receive a lifetime ban from the tournament like he did from Wimbledon.
Despite his success on YouTube, JiDion has expressed a desire to return to Twitch. However, it does not seem likely to happen anytime soon. After waiting for over a year, JiDion's appeal to lift his Twitch ban was denied. The streaming platform cited "Extreme Harassment" as the primary reason for maintaining the ban. Although Twitch may not be an option for the foreseeable future, there are emerging alternatives for streaming.
Although JiDion may mock the WNBA, the women's basketball league has gained increasing importance. The highly popular NBA 2K video game series now consistently releases WNBA versions, such as NBA 2K23 WNBA Edition. This edition prominently showcases renowned players Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi on its cover, advancing the league's visibility and promoting equality.
