Kyle Cooke feels for pal Carl Radke after his world fell apart following his broken engagement to Lindsay Hubbard — even if Radke called off the relationship.
Cooke, 41, told E! News on Wednesday, October 25, that he wants to highlight the fact that both of his two costars from Summer House are suffering. He described the situation as extremely unfortunate. Cooke has been appearing on the Bravo series since its debut in 2017, alongside Radke, 38, and Hubbard, 37. He acknowledged that Radke made a strong effort to handle the breakup with utmost respect.
Cooke explained that he is the one who ended the relationship and is allowing her to live in the apartment they both contribute to, despite being essentially homeless. However, he has set a clear boundary. Despite Radke appearing to handle the situation maturely, Cooke acknowledged that he is struggling to navigate through it.
Radke and Hubbard called off their engagement during the filming of season 8 of Summer House in August. This occurred a year after Radke proposed to the PR founder of Hubb House in the Hamptons, with the moment being captured on camera.
Cooke was present for both of these important moments and shared on Wednesday that he wasn't completely taken aback by Radke's decision to end the relationship before their scheduled November wedding.
"They have been attending couples therapy consistently since the early stages of their relationship," Cooke revealed. "In my observation, there were instances where it seemed like their only form of communication during a week was during therapy sessions."
The Winter House actor further remarked, "It reached a point where they couldn't converse with each other without the presence of a mediator, and Carl made it clear that he didn't want to spend the next five decades living like that."
Us confirmed last month that Radke and Hubbard had sought professional help as they prepared to get married in Mexico later this year. A source exclusively revealed in September that Carl didn't feel it was a positive way to begin their lifelong journey together, and one of the biggest challenges they faced was Radke's sobriety.
"Sobriety was a significant concern for him," the source expressed. "While Lindsay had successfully embraced sobriety, she eventually reintroduced drinking into her routine." (Radke has maintained sobriety since January 2021. Meanwhile, Hubbard was sober from late 2021 until spring 2022 to support Radke's journey.)
After intending to solely discuss their relationship, Radke ended up having a falling out with Hubbard during their conversation in August, leading to a breakup. Radke finally shared his thoughts on the split in September through an email sent to their wedding guests, informing them that the wedding was canceled. In the letter, he conveyed his sadness, mentioning that Lindsay is devastated and he himself is deeply affected by the way everything unfolded. Radke humbly requested for understanding and support during this challenging period of healing and recovery.
Hubbard, on the other hand, released a statement in the same month, placing the blame on Radke. Through her Instagram on September 14, she expressed the devastating impact of having her entire life and future taken away, with no explanations or closure as to why. She conveyed the difficulty of coming to terms with the betrayal of her trust, making it a challenging situation for her.
Additionally, their broken engagement has resulted in fallout among their Summer House colleagues. Danielle Olivera, who is part of the group's "three amigos" with Radke and Hubbard, exclusively disclosed to Us on October 19 that she has chosen her side.
"People ask me if I talk to Carl, and my response is a definite 'No,'" said Olivera, 34. "There's a clear boundary. I'm firmly on Team Lindsay."
Having shared her concerns about the speed of Radke and Hubbard's relationship during season 7 of the series, Olivera expressed her dismay, saying the entire situation is extremely unpleasant. She further mentioned that despite her own emotional distress, Hubbard is managing and seeking support from her friends.
