Monique Samuels and Chris Samuels have ended their 11-year marriage, according to the Montgomery County Family Court in Maryland. Monique filed for divorce from the former NFL player and requested to have the legal documents sealed. She initially filed a complaint for absolute divorce in April and later filed an amended complaint on June 15. The couple is expected to appear in court on June 21 to finalize their divorce.
In October 2022, Monique addressed divorce rumors by sharing a message on her Instagram Story. She asked her estranged husband, Chris, for his thoughts on the matter. Monique also mentioned that she had just returned from a day of hiking. Chris responded by directing fans to Monique's store, "Shop Mila Eve." During the interaction, Monique laughed and proudly displayed her diamond engagement ring.
She later emphasized on Instagram that there is no more reliable source than the source itself. "You all are aware of how I operate. I am the one who breaks the news exclusively," she wrote. However, a few days after, she addressed the fact that she and Chris were experiencing difficulties, which were partially showcased on Love & Marriage: DC early in 2022.
"It is no secret that my husband Chris and I have been facing challenges in our marriage. Those who watched Love & Marriage: DC last year witnessed the arguments and all the turmoil we were going through," Monique revealed in a detailed YouTube video. "As we approached our 10-year milestone, it became overwhelming. When you have been married for that long and feel like your needs are not being met or your voice is not being heard, frustration sets in. You start questioning if this is what life is going to be like forever. It became unbearable. So what everyone saw on Love & Marriage: DC last season was my desperate plea for help."
After being part of the RHOP cast for four seasons, the couple, who are parents to three children - Christopher (9), Milani (8), and Chase (4) - decided to join the cast of Love & Marriage: DC.
Joining the new reality show was a different experience for Monique compared to her time on the Bravo series.
That is why I decided to join reality TV. The previous platform I was on didn't really align with the kind of environment I wanted to be in. I believe that everything happens for a reason and I had to go through what I did to reach this point. Family is something I am extremely passionate about, as well as my marriage, and now people have the opportunity to see the whole picture. They can witness not just me in a group of girls, but also how I interact with my husband, how we navigate through challenges in our relationship, how we express our love for each other, how we sometimes argue, and how we raise our beautiful children together. They will see all the obstacles we may face along the way.
