During her "Let's Be Honest" podcast on Tuesday, November 28, Kristin Cavallari, 36, revealed that she and her ex-husband Jay Cutler have made significant progress in their relationship since their divorce. "I never thought we'd get here," she admitted, adding that she is pleased with the positive impact it has on their children and how much easier it makes things for everyone involved.
Cavallari acknowledged that ending a long-term relationship is "extremely challenging," so experiencing tough times is inevitable. However, she expressed that seeing Cutler, 40, happy brings her great joy.
The former Laguna Beach star and the ex-NFL player tied the knot in 2013 and have three children together: sons Camden, 11, and Jaxon, 9, and daughter Saylor, 7. Their separation was announced in 2020 and their divorce was official two years later.
Cavallari has chosen to keep her dating life private after her divorce, while Cutler made his new relationship with Samantha Roberston public in September. During a recent podcast episode, Cavallari expressed gratitude for her current happiness, saying, "Life is really good right now and I’m so thankful for it. When I tell you guys, if [Jay and I] can get there, anyone can get there. I mean it."

In another part of the episode, Cavallari spoke about her ex-husband, calling him "one of my soulmates" in life.
"I believe we can have soulmates and that these relationships can be very challenging in order to promote personal growth for both individuals," she confessed. "I don't always see soulmates as a beautiful love story. They can be, but I believe there's another one out there for me that will fit that description. I just haven't found it yet. Nevertheless, I am grateful for my other soulmates, despite the difficulties."
Cavallari also provided guidance to a listener on recognizing when to end a marriage, particularly when children are part of the equation.
“It’s the toughest decision,” she acknowledged, sharing that her mom’s wisdom was instrumental in her own split from Cutler. “It’s a unique experience for everyone. The truth about divorce is that it’s never a sudden decision. It’s always been a long and difficult journey, so I don’t have any advice to offer.”

Cavallari bluntly told the listener, "You'll know when it's over."
She reflected, "I finally reached the point where I literally couldn't do this anymore. I stayed in my marriage for my kids longer than I wanted to."
