Kristin Cavallari revealed the reason behind cutting her father, Dennis Cavallari, out of her life two years ago. She explained that an incident involving her children crossed a line, leading her to make the decision to remove him from her life. She shared this on the December 19 episode of her "Let's Be Honest" podcast with guest Dr. Sherrie Campbell, stating that he blamed her and threw everything back in her face.
Kristin, aged 36, has three children with her ex-husband Jay Cutler – sons Camden, 11, and Jaxon, 9, and daughter Saylor, 8. She shared, "I used to think I could handle the abuse, I always have. But when it comes to my kids, I won't stand for it anymore."
Ending the relationship with her father has been the best decision she's ever made, according to the former Laguna Beach star. Reflecting on their tumultuous relationship during her formative years, Kristin admitted that she only came to terms with her father's narcissism as an adult. She described feeling unworthy and knew that she never wanted to be near him.

"However, there was also the other side of the coin where he would often idealize me and praise me," she added. "But now, as a grown-up reflecting on it, I realize that it was only when it served his interests and made him appear good."
Kristin’s mother, Judith Spies Eifrig, and her father divorced when she was young.

Kristin has previously been open about her difficult relationship with her father. The tension between them grew after the passing of her brother, Michael Cavallari, in 2015. He tragically died at the age of 30 from hypothermia after a car crash in freezing temperatures while driving through a secluded area in southern Utah.
During a confessional interview on Very Cavallari in February 2020, Kristin expressed that her relationship with her dad and brother being close has created a sense of distance between them, which she finds challenging to overcome.
