Kevin Costner is excited that his son Hayes is starting his acting career. The proud father, aged 69, shared a touching post on Instagram on Sunday, March 3, announcing that the 15-year-old will be making his acting debut in Horizon: An American Saga.
Costner expressed his pride in his son, Hayes, for his acting debut in #HorizonAmericanSaga. He also thanked everyone for the love shown towards the trailer.
The clip from the trailer features Hayes' character in a tense moment, protecting his family amidst a barrage of gunfire while ushering them into safety through a hidden door in a house.
Costner wrote "The best part of the Horizon: Part 1 trailer" over the video as Hayes squats down in the midst of chaos. As Hayes says "I'm going to be with dad," he closes the door and "my son" appears on the screen.
Kevin Costner & Modern West shared a post on their Instagram account. This project, Horizon, marks Costner's return to directing since 2003's Open Range after leaving Yellowstone. A trailer for Horizon was released on February 26, which Costner, an Oscar winner, shared on Instagram. In a video, Costner mentioned that Horizon is something he has been contemplating for a while and that he made it for his fans.
The trailer for Horizon teases an incredible cinematic experience, featuring stunning views of the American West and a talented cast that includes Danny Huston, Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, and Kevin Costner. Chapter 1 is set to premiere in theaters on June 28, and Chapter 2 will be released on August 16.
Costner has expressed his vision for Horizon to be a four-part epic, although plans for the third and fourth chapters are not yet in place. Costner had been working to bring Horizon to life since the late 1980s before production finally began in 2022.

Costner shared with The Hollywood Reporter that he discussed the challenging journey of creating the film during a panel conversation in February. He mentioned, "When no one was interested in making the first movie, I had the idea to make four instead."
He further explained his vision, stating, "I wanted to move away from the typical Westerns where there is already a town present. The origins of the town are unknown... We often see Westerns that lack depth because they are oversimplified. This is not a fantasy world like Disneyland; these are real stories of real people."
Costner shares his son Cayden, 16, and daughter Grace, 13, with his ex-wife Christine Baumgartner. They settled their divorce in September 2023 after going back and forth in court for months. Costner also has three children, Annie, 39, Lily, 37, and Joe, 36, with his ex-wife Cindy Silva, as well as a son Liam, 28, with his ex Bridget Rooney.
