Kelce's Cleat Dilemma: Why He Refuses Pink to Avoid Mix-Up with Teammate AJ Brown

Kelce's Cleat Dilemma: Why He Refuses Pink to Avoid Mix-Up with Teammate AJ Brown

Jason Kelce won't sport pink cleats to avoid confusing his daughter, Wyatt, with teammate AJ Brown, after she became enamored with Brown's footwear during a Philadelphia Eagles game

In a TikTok video on the Philadelphia Eagles' account, A.J. Brown expressed his admiration for Jason Kelce's eldest daughter, Wyatt, who happens to be a big fan of his hot pink football cleats. "It was so cute," exclaimed the 26-year-old Brown on Friday, October 13. "My daughter does the same thing and always points out my shoes, but that video was so cute."

In a video posted earlier this week by Jason's wife, Kylie Kelce, their 4-year-old daughter was seen cleverly avoiding her nap by watching a replay of the October 8 football game. At one point in the clip, Wyatt amusingly commented, "I just noticed the pink shoes," referring to the brightly colored cleats worn by the wide receiver, Brown. She excitedly remarked again, "I spot the pink shoes once more!"

Brown explained on Friday that he chooses vibrant shoes to make it easier for his three-year-old daughter, Jersee, to locate him on the field. (Brown shares custody of Jersee and his 12-month-old son, A.J. Jr., with his partner, Kelsey Riley.)

In the TikTok video, Jason, aged 35, acknowledged that he found Kylie's video to be "adorable," but he made it clear that he will not be imitating his teammate. "I have no intention of wearing pink shoes," he stated. "I don't want my daughter to mistake me for AJ."

Jason commented, "I must say, it's an exceptional marketing strategy. By captivating a child's attention, you automatically engage the interest of everyone else."

31-year-old Jason and Kylie have three daughters together - Wyatt, Elliotte (2 years old), and Bennett (7 months old). The Kelce girls are regular spectators of their father's football matches, granted that the game begins prior to their bedtime.

“They choose to watch games that are held at a suitable time of day. If it happens to be a night game, or even if it starts at 8:15, I allow them to stay awake for a short while to watch," Kylie mentioned in a recent episode of Jason's "New Heights" podcast, where he had his brother, Travis Kelce, as a guest. "Even if it's just for a few drives, they at least get to see their dad on TV before going to bed."

Furthermore, she elaborated, "They have grasped the concept that when they see green jerseys on the field, it means their dad is playing, and similarly, when they see red jerseys, it means it's Uncle Trav's team."

At the 2023 Super Bowl in February, Wyatt and Elliotte had the opportunity to witness a match between Jason's Eagles and Travis' Kansas City Chiefs. The children, dressed in unique Eagles overall dresses, were ultimately disheartened to see their team lose the game. In Prime Video's Kelce documentary, filmed after the NFL championship, Wyatt humorously expressed to Jason, "I didn't want Uncle Travie to win." Kylie later informed her husband that their daughter had expressed a similar sentiment loudly once the game concluded.

“She announced that on the bus, ‘I didn’t want Uncle Travie to win,’” Kylie added. “They really lightened the mood.”
