Katy Perry is adored by fans for her down-to-earth attitude and sense of humor.

Recently, in a video shared on Instagram on April 21, the 39-year-old singer was playfully asked by the American Idol audience if she recognized her own song, "California Gurls."

After playfully murmuring the lyrics and pausing to ponder, Perry quipped, "It's by that super annoying girl, isn't it?"

The lighthearted video quickly went viral on social media, with an Instagram user commenting, "I love how you almost started singing along," and another adding, "She's a natural performer, she deserves an award!"

The singer known for "Roar" joined the singing competition series in 2018. However, during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in February, Perry shared her decision to leave the show.

During the show, Perry expressed, "I think this will probably be my last season for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to march to my own beat and feel that pulse."

Perry is excited for the next chapter in her career as she moves on from the world of Idol. She shared with Jimmy Kimmel that she will be performing at the Rock in Rio music festival in Brazil this coming September. This opportunity is a big deal for fans worldwide, especially for her Brazilian supporters.

Perry bid farewell to fans and American Idol judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie with mixed emotions. Despite feeling bittersweet about leaving, the 13-time Grammy Award nominee already has someone in mind to take her place.

During an interview with E! News earlier this month, Perry expressed her admiration for Jelly Roll's appearance on the show. She was truly impressed by his presence and charisma, jokingly saying she would believe anything he said. The "Save Me" singer's guest appearance on the April 8 episode left a lasting impression on Perry.

Perry expressed, "I have a lot of love for him. It would be fantastic to have any of these guys, along with Jelly, on the show. Jelly, I adore you! I'm looking for someone honest. I want a truth-teller who can speak the truth in a kind manner."

American Idol season 22 is broadcast on ABC on Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m. ET.
