John Stamos celebrated his friend and former costar Bob Saget on the late comedian’s birthday with a photo of the Full House cast that included Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.
Stamos, 60, shared a black and white photo on Instagram on Friday, May 17, wishing Saget a happy birthday. The picture showed the Full House cast gathered behind a large sculpture of Disney’s Dumbo, marking what would have been Saget’s 68th birthday. Stamos mentioned that the photo was taken during Saget's funeral, where Bob's presence was felt through warm memories that brought both laughter and tears to those who gathered.
Stamos, along with other Full House cast members such as Scott Weinger, Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, and series creator Jeff Franklin, gathered for a photo. The twins Mary-Kate and Ashley, 37, also made a rare appearance in the picture. The photo was taken in Stamos’ home and credited to comedian Jeff Ross.
In a heartfelt caption, Stamos reflected on the absence of Bob Saget, who played Danny Tanner opposite Stamos' Uncle Jesse from 1987 to 1995. Stamos mentioned how they all felt the weight of Saget's absence and the strong bond he created among them. He described Saget as the heart of their 'Full House' family and highlighted his legacy of kindness and compassion. The photo captured the gentle ways they supported each other, echoing the love that Saget always extended to them. They celebrated a life that was a true gift to them all.

He concluded, “Bob, you are with us in every joke we share and every hug we give. Rest in peace, dear friend. Your family misses you more than words can say. .”
Saget tragically passed away on January 9, 2022, at the age of 65. He was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Orlando after performing a stand-up show the day before. A month later, authorities revealed that Saget had died from blunt force trauma to the head.
In a statement released in February 2022, Saget's family shared that it was determined he accidentally hit the back of his head on something, went to sleep, and did not think much of it. They emphasized that no drugs or alcohol were involved in the tragic incident.
The Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, who are now 37 years old, both played the role of Michelle Tanner on Full House. While most of the original cast returned for the Fuller House reboot, the twins, who have since focused on their fashion design careers, chose not to return as an adult Michelle. This decision reportedly made John Stamos, who plays Uncle Jesse, initially upset.
Stamos shared on the “And That’s What You REALLY Missed” podcast in May 2023 that he was angry for a moment when the twins declined to appear on Fuller House. However, he mentioned that they reconnected following the passing of their co-star, Bob Saget.
Stamos shared on the podcast, "They said, 'We loved you guys, we loved our childhood. We loved being with you. We miss Bob.' They came over to my house and they brought a pork chop and sage."
In a statement to We on January 10, 2022, just one day after Saget’s shocking death, the Olsens remembered their TV dad as “the most loving, compassionate and generous man.”
Their statement expressed their deep sadness over his passing, but also emphasized that his presence will continue to guide them just as gracefully as before. They also mentioned their thoughts and condolences for his daughters, wife, and family.
