In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, May 14, Joan, 61, expressed her surprise at the news. She had enjoyed following their love story and had believed they were meant to be together. Joan commended their bravery in pursuing love and taking the necessary steps to find happiness.

Joan observed that Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, had experienced true love in the past. Gerry's late wife, Toni, and Theresa's late husband, Billy, had passed away before The Golden Bachelor season 1.

Joan commended both of them for recognizing when their relationships were not working out and deciding to end them. She emphasized the importance of allowing them to continue on their own paths and follow their hearts. It was a brave decision for them to part ways when they realized that the relationship was not right for them.

Joan shared in a confessional that her daughter recently had a baby, and it was not a typical delivery. She emphasized the importance of family, stating that even when things go wrong, a mother's presence is crucial. Being a mom is a lifelong role that takes top priority.

Although Joan did not find lasting love with Gerry, she is now starting to explore the world of dating. It was revealed on Tuesday that Joan will be the first lead of The Golden Bachelorette, set to premiere on Wednesdays in the fall of 2024.

Joan shared the exciting news on her Instagram Story, expressing her gratitude for being chosen as #TheGoldenBachelorette. After the announcement, Gerry also took to social media to congratulate his ex and send his well-wishes.
