Joan Vassos voluntarily left the competition on The Golden Bachelor's most recent episode, but she has no regrets and is grateful.
After the episode aired on Thursday, October 12, Joan, who is 60 years old, took to Instagram to express her appreciation, writing, "I want to thank everyone who has shown concern for my family. Being a mother to four incredible children and a grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren (who affectionately call me Jojo) is a privilege. However, as a mother, the timing doesn't always align with finding love."
Joan expressed that her family is doing well. Additionally, she expressed her aspirations for finding love again in the future. During Thursday's episode, Joan had a remarkable one-on-one encounter with Gerry Turner. However, she made the difficult decision to depart early due to troubling news regarding her daughter, who had just given birth.

"It was not your typical delivery by any means. Mishaps occur. Regardless of smooth operations, one always relies on their mother," Joan expressed to the cameras. "My family will forever take precedence. Once you embrace motherhood, it remains a constant, even when your children have matured. Nothing holds greater importance."
Gerry, aged 72, confessed to feeling "disappointed" after establishing a profound bond, yet he comprehended Joan's decision to return home. "I was elated with the quality of our conversation, however, we both possess a moral compass," he conveyed to her. "Occasionally, the most arduous path yields the right course of action."
During a personal interview, Joan emotionally expressed how meeting Gerry had revitalized her sense of worth. "Gerry has been like a balm for my heart. He has accompanied me on this journey, because as one grows older, they gradually fade into the background," she shared. "People no longer perceive you. Your significance diminishes compared to when you were young."

Although Joan and Gerry's romantic relationship did not succeed, Joan formed meaningful bonds with the other participants of the show. In a Thursday Instagram post, she expressed gratitude for the presence of kind and supportive women, sharing a video of the moment she informed them about her decision to depart. "I feel fortunate to have been surrounded by these amazing women. Missing them dearly."
Last month, Gerry shared with us exclusively his desire to ensure that all the women on the show felt confident and positive about themselves. In September, he mentioned that the fantasy suite dates were focused on building emotional connections rather than physical ones. He expressed satisfaction with how things turned out and emphasized the importance of having off-camera conversations. Don't miss The Golden Bachelor on ABC, airing Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.
