Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are one step closer to being officially divorced after agreeing to a settlement.
The former couple signed a divorce agreement in December 2023, with the split still pending judge approval. They divided their assets based on a prenup and a property settlement agreement, and will have joint custody of their 3-year-old son. Additionally, the country singer will pay $2,100 monthly in child support.
Their divorce proceedings update arrived three months after Us confirmed Morris' filing to end their marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the split reason. The couple first met at a writing session for Tim McGraw’s song “Last Turn Home” in 2013 and started dating after being friends. Hurd shared their love story in his 2017 song "Love in a Bar."
“[Ryan’s] has always been a creative collaborator in my life, that’s how we met,” Morris exclusively told Us in 2019. “We were paired together six years ago to write a song. We didn’t know each other and it just kind of grew from there, so music has always been really intertwined in our love for each other, and now that we aren’t just songwriters, we’re artists.”

Hurd proposed to Morris in 2017, and they got married a year later. Prior to their breakup, Morris talked about the difficulties they encountered, particularly being apart while she was on tour."It was probably the most difficult part of our relationship. We went on our honeymoon and then I went straight on this huge tour opening for Niall Horan," she told Esquire in 2019. "It involved more international touring than I had ever experienced before, and I was away more than on any other tour."
Morris described that time as a challenging summer, prompting her and Hurd to seek therapy together. "We've become much closer by making difficult decisions and having tough conversations about our future and how to improve things," she said. "I've always loved him, but now I feel like I appreciate him in new ways." Recently, Morris broke her silence about the divorce proceedings.

"This year has been challenging for many people, not just me. I have seen those close to me go through breakups and divorces," she explained in a recent interview with Howard Stern. "My own separation is ongoing, and I am hoping for some resolution."
In a recent social media post, Morris shared an inspiring quote: "2024 will be deeply personal. It will be the long-awaited apology to yourself. Nothing and no one will keep that from you. You are about to walk into the greatest year of your life."
