Jesse McCartney understands that making a baby is not always easy or glamorous, despite his latest single.
In a recent interview with We, McCartney, 37, shared that his conversations with his wife, Katie Peterson, served as inspiration for his new song "Make a Baby," which features Yung Gravy.
He told Us that they had discussed starting a family, and sometimes the timing for such things is not very romantic. They have to be intimate at odd hours of the day. This was the inspiration for the song, which started off as a joke but turned into something more fun. Despite the silly nature of the song, his wife really enjoys it.
McCartney has written many songs inspired by his wife of two years. He mentioned that Peterson also has a special fondness for this particular song.
Katie is amazing, but she can be a bit tough to figure out sometimes," said the singer of "Beautiful Soul." "When I finally do get through to her soft side, seeing her walls come down is the best feeling. It's not easy to do. I've written a couple of songs about her now, they're in my collection."
Jesse McCartney Says the Planning That Goes Into Babymaking Is Not Always the Sexiest
Jesse McCartney and Katie Peterson released their single, "Make a Baby," on March 1. Before the song was officially out, McCartney posted a picture on Instagram with a fake pregnant belly to build excitement for the release. To avoid any confusion, he made sure to give a heads up to both sets of parents about the photo beforehand.
"He anticipated chaos in the comments section," he mentioned. The night before, he and his wife warned their parents about an upcoming photo of a pregnant belly. They reassured them it wasn't them in the picture. This prevented their parents from being shocked on social media. The photo sparked conversations and served as a fun marketing strategy for the song.
The couple got married in October 2021 after being together for nine years. McCartney shared that they are savoring their newlywed life and taking things one step at a time. Their next goal is to expand their family, which they hope will be the next chapter in their journey.
“I think we’ll be good and we’re a good team,” he said. “Katie will be a great mom one day, so it’ll be good.”
