Mai expressed gratitude for being a mother and the ability to empathize with her child. She shared her belief that by putting herself in her daughter's shoes, she gains a different perspective. Shepherd, who has experienced her own divorces, acknowledged the positive impact a child can have during a challenging separation, drawing from her own experience with her son.
“Shepherd expressed gratitude to her child, saying, ‘I appreciate this gift in my current situation.’” Mai acknowledged that God knew she needed this gift.
Mai also emphasized that her daughter consistently brings joy into her life. “She has a unique personality. Physical affection may not be her thing, but sometimes she looks at me as if saying, ‘Where have you been? I’ve been longing for your presence,’” Mai reminisced about Monaco. “That bond is invaluable. We share a special connection, and she knows I will always support her.”
Jeezy, 46, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, officially filed for divorce from Mai in Georgia on September 15. The documents were signed by the musician on June 15, indicating that he and Mai are presently living separately. Jeezy, who has three children from previous relationships, stated that his relationship with Mai is irreparably damaged and there is no possibility of reconciliation.
Jeezy is requesting joint physical and legal custody of Monaco, in addition to seeking court enforcement of their prenuptial agreement from March 2021, according to the documentation.
Following the announcement of their separation, Mai temporarily withdrew from social media. However, the former Real cohost made a comeback on Wednesday, October 11, sharing a quote pertaining to recovery on Instagram.
"Taking a pause and disconnecting is essential for self-healing," the message in the notebook conveyed. Mai included a black heart emoji as her accompanying caption.
During her conversation with Shepherd on Friday, Mai shared that disconnecting has played a significant role in her journey towards progress. "To be honest, dedicating time each day to simply be still and introspective is crucial," she expressed on the talk show. "I'm prioritizing self-care and taking it one day at a time. Switching off from everything also contributes to this process."
