Jason Tartick is still trying to come to terms with the end of his engagement to Kaitlyn Bristowe.
“Kaitlyn is really important to me, and I still care about her a lot, which makes this difficult,” said Tartick, 35, during a conversation with former Bachelor Nation host Chris Harrison on “The Most Dramatic Podcast Ever” on Friday, December 8. “I want to be careful with what I say because I worry about how she might feel. Having these conversations is tough for me, but I'll try my best.”
Tartick tearfully confessed to Harrison that he believed his relationship with Bristowe was nearing its end before they publicly announced their split in August.
“I haven't even got a decent question from you,” Tartick quipped to Harrison once he had composed himself. "It was a difficult period, so revisiting it is tough. I'm not good at it - I've always struggled with showing my emotions. I hate it, I've always hated it."
Tartick struggled with being vulnerable while competing for Becca Kufrin's heart on season 14 of The Bachelorette. He clarified that his difficulty in showing vulnerability was mistaken for forced tears on camera, but he was actually trying to avoid crying until filming ended so he could express his emotions in private. Since ending his relationship with Bristowe, Tartick has found himself feeling "very sensitive these days." He admitted to struggling to talk about his former fiancée, expressing his deep love for her and tearing up for a second time on the podcast.

In my opinion, there was a significant sense of declining complacency. "Damn," he said, his voice breaking as tears welled up. "That's my response."
Though the breakup didn't come as a surprise to either of them, Tartick struggled to accept that his four-year relationship with Bristowe was ending. He acknowledged crying more in the past six months than ever before, but found it cathartic to finally release his pent-up emotions.

Harrison advised Tartick that it's important not to minimize the pain of losing a significant other, whether through a breakup or divorce. He emphasized that while the experience is different from losing a loved one through death, it still entails mourning the loss of someone who continues to exist. Despite the difficulty of seeing the person after the split, Tartick and Bristowe had a friendly and respectful reunion at Harrison's wedding to Zima last month. Tartick shared this on his "Trading Secrets" podcast in November.
