The Official Separation
During part 1 of the Sister Wives: One-on-One tell-all episode that aired in December 2022, Janelle admitted, "I believe if we both took the time to truly communicate, we would express surprise and disbelief." She further disclosed that the strain in her relationship with Kody started in late 2021, sharing, "He completely disregarded our last anniversary. He didn't even bother to reach out to me." The reality star went on to reveal that a major argument took place just before Christmas in 2021, which continued to affect their anniversary in January 2022.

She’s ‘Not Waiting for Him’

Her Children Come First
During part 3 of the Sister Wives: One-on-One special in January 2023, the Utah native took a moment to reflect on the arguments she had with Kody during season 17. Although these arguments occurred in 2021, they were only aired in 2022. The main point of contention was their six children. Specifically, the former spouses clashed over their kids' holiday plans in 2021, which came about after Gabe and Garrison had a falling out with their dad earlier that year.
Janelle expressed that if Kody had genuinely prioritized the well-being of her and their children, he would have found a solution that accommodated the entire family instead of imposing strict COVID-19 rules while spending time with a wife who followed them faithfully. She acknowledged feeling extremely upset about the events involving their kids, leading her to gradually lose respect for Kody.

Dating Is on the Backburner
Janelle made it clear during a November 2023 episode of Sister Wives, filmed in summer 2022, that she has no interest in dating whatsoever. She emphasized that she does not even look at men or feel any attraction towards them. To her, dating is burdensome and she wants no part in it.
In addition, Janelle went on to state that she has no intention of putting herself in situations where she would be surrounded by single men. She adamantly refuses to engage in online dating, finding the concept of swiping and matching entirely puzzling.
Janelle also told Christine during the episode that Kody hadn’t been around for 10 months.
