Jamie Spears, father of Britney Spears, underwent a recent leg amputation, confirmed by multiple sources. In October, the 71-year-old was hospitalized with an infection, leading to the amputation last month. This comes after a previous health struggle in 2019, where he underwent emergency surgeries for a ruptured colon.

Britney Spears' recent health challenges have occurred while she remains emotionally distant from her sister, Britney, 42. In her memoir "The Woman in Me," released in October, the "Toxic" singer candidly discussed her troubled relationship with her father.

In the book, Britney expressed, "The conservatorship took away my identity as a woman and turned me into a child. I felt like more of a product than a person when I was on stage. Music had always been in my bones and my blood, and they took that away from me." The 13-year conservatorship, in which Jamie served as the conservator of Britney's estate from 2008 until September 2021, finally ended in November 2021.

In the tell-all, Britney alleged that in August 2019, Jamie physically confronted her then-13-year-old son Sean Preston during an argument. "My son tried to lock himself in a room to escape the fight, and my dad broke down the door and shook him," Britney wrote. She shares Sean Preston, now 18, and son Jayden, 17, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. "Kevin filed a police report, and my dad was prohibited from seeing the kids."

An exclusive source told Us at the time that Federline’s request for a restraining order was granted without any opposition from Jamie. The insider also added that Jamie was prohibited from visiting his grandsons for three years.

Despite Jamie and Britney’s turbulent relationship appearing irreparable, there remains a possibility that the pop star will reconcile with her mother, Lynne Spears.

The new issue of We magazine exclusively revealed that Britney and Jamie's relationship is beyond repair, but Britney is grateful that her relationship with her mother is improving. Britney has also had disagreements with her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, as she claimed in The Woman In Me that Jamie Lynn told her to "stop fighting it" when their father checked her into a treatment center without her consent.

In a November episode of I’m a Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here, Jamie Lynn spoke affectionately about Britney despite her sister's sometimes unflattering portrayal of her in the memoir. "She's a great older sister," Jamie Lynn said. "I love her. We have our disagreements, and the whole world has seen that. I've learned not to discuss it publicly, but the truth is, all families have arguments. We just handle it better than most."
