Ryan Koss, the driver of a Honda Element SUV, has been charged with grossly negligent operation resulting in the tragic motorcycle accident that claimed Treat Williams' life. The Vermont State Police announced the charges on Tuesday, August 1, stating that Koss had turned his vehicle into the path of Williams' motorcycle on June 12.

Mr. Williams sustained serious injuries in the accident and was later pronounced deceased at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York, according to a press release on Tuesday. The Medical Examiner's Office in New York determined that the cause of Mr. Williams' death was severe trauma and blood loss resulting from the crash. He was 71 years old.

After completing their investigation, the Bennington County State’s Attorney’s Office requested to press charges against Koss.

Koss willingly met with troopers at the Shaftsbury Barracks, where he faced processing for the charge and was subsequently released. He is set to attend his arraignment at 8:15 a.m. on Monday, September 25, at Vermont Superior Court's Criminal Division in Bennington, Vermont.

Barry McPherson, Williams' representative, confirmed the death of the Everwood star on June 12. In a statement to We, McPherson stated, "He was fatally injured this afternoon when a car abruptly cut him off while he was making a turn."

He was highly regarded among fellow actors and cherished by filmmakers, being a prominent figure in Hollywood since the late 1970s. Following his passing, an intimate funeral took place on June 19 to commemorate Williams' life, attended by his loved ones. The couple, who had been married for 35 years, have a son named Gill Williams, aged 31, and a daughter named Elinor "Ellie" Williams, aged 25.

Williams had a successful film career, but he was best known for his role as Dr. Andy Brown on The WB's Everwood from 2002 to 2006. This performance earned him a SAG Award nomination. He later starred as Mick O'Brien on Hallmark Channel's Chesapeake Shores, a family drama based on a novel by Sherryl Woods. Williams remained on the show until its final season. According to his Chesapeake Shores co-star Stephen Huszar, Williams was a man who embraced and enjoyed life fully. His passing has brought the cast closer together.
