Following 11 years of marriage, Zolciak and her husband officially filed for divorce in May. The divorce proceedings quickly became contentious as they battled for custody of their four children: Kroy “KJ” Jr., aged 12, Kash, aged 10, and twins Kaia and Kane, both aged 9. It is worth noting that Biermann, in addition to the aforementioned children, also formally adopted Zolciak's daughters Brielle, aged 26, and Ariana, aged 21.

Amid their separation, Biermann requested sole ownership of their property in Alpharetta, Georgia, and also requested that Zolciak-Biermann be prohibited from entering the house. He also requested child support.

Zolciak-Biermann, on her part, filed a motion to have her ex undergo a drug test, claiming to have witnessed him smoking marijuana. "She is deeply concerned for the safety and welfare of the children while they are in the care of the respondent," stated documents obtained by Us. "She is afraid that the children will be exposed to the respondent's drug use."

The custody battle between the couple escalated further when Biermann asked for Zolciak-Biermann to undergo a psychological assessment, claiming she had a gambling issue. Zolciak-Biermann, however, refuted her husband's accusations.

Biermann later alleged that his wife's friend, Elise Humphries, tried to abduct their son when she took him to the rodeo. Zolciak-Biermann denied these allegations in a 911 call, and Humphries dismissed the accusation on social media.

Humphries denied the accusation and stated that he took KJ, a close friend of his daughter Alanna, to the Blairsville annual rodeo. He mentioned that KJ's mother Kim, who is a fantastic mom and friend, gave him permission to bring KJ to the event and meet his two best friends, one of whom is his daughter. In previous reports, phone records obtained by Us demonstrated that Zolciak-Biermann had accused her husband of placing a tracker on her car in May.

Despite the dramatic events, it appears that the couple has chosen to reconcile and give their marriage another chance. They officially withdrew their divorce papers on July 7, as confirmed by Biermann's attorney, Marlys Bergstrom, to Us.
