Inside Scoop: Sophie Turner Finds Safe Haven for Joe Jonas Custody Battle at Taylor Swift's Luxurious Estate

Sophie Turner can seek refuge at Taylor Swift's properties during her custody battle with Joe Jonas, granting her a safe haven until the case concludes

Sophie Turner is allowed to stay at Taylor Swift's property in New York until the custody case with Joe Jonas is resolved, according to a source.

Turner, who is 27 years old, has been frequently seen with Swift, who is 33, ever since Turner's husband, Jonas, 34, initiated divorce proceedings last month, marking the end of their four-year marriage.

On September 19, the two women were captured in photographs, walking side by side in New York City. They were also seen dining together at Barrière Fouquet Hotel on September 21.

The duo also attended a football game together on Sunday, October 1, where they supported Travis Kelce, who is rumored to have a romantic connection with Swift. They watched the game from a box at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, surrounded by other celebrities including Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Antoni Porowski.

Despite spending a lot of time together, a second source revealed last month that Swift is not fully aware of the details of Turner's divorce and feels it is not her role to inquire. Nevertheless, Swift remains supportive and loyal to her friend.

“She is solely focused on providing support for her friend. She has generously offered Sophie a place to stay in her investment property in NYC for as long as she needs, and she is doing everything she can to assist her,” the source explained.

On September 5, Jonas officially initiated the divorce process, citing that his marriage is beyond repair. The legal document also expressed that even though their two daughters – Willa, aged 3, and Delphine, aged 14 months – currently reside with their father in Miami, it is in the children's best interests for both parents to share in their upbringing.

Following their highly-publicized separation, Jonas and Turner have finally addressed the situation in a joint statement released on Instagram.

"We have mutually come to the decision to peacefully conclude our four-year marriage," the statement expressed. "Although various speculations have arisen, we want to emphasize that this is a decision made together, and we kindly ask for everyone to honor our request for privacy, both for us and our children."

Nearly two weeks later, the situation took a tumultuous turn when Turner filed a lawsuit demanding the repatriation of their two daughters to the U.K., her home country. In her legal submission, the actress stated that her children had been unlawfully confined in New York City and accused Jonas of withholding their passports.

In reaction, Jonas vehemently denied the accusations in a statement issued through his representative. The spokesperson expressed, "The use of terms like 'abduction' is highly misleading and, at worst, a grave manipulation of the legal system. The children were not abducted."

The tension appeared to subside on September 25th when Turner and Jonas reached a temporary agreement to not take their children out of the New York City area for now. Us confirmed on Tuesday, October 3rd, that the two will go to trial on January 2, 2024, to determine custody of their children. The trial will take place in Manhattan as decided by the judge. Meanwhile, Jonas and Swift have a complex history of their own. Following a three-month relationship in 2008, Swift publicly criticized Jonas for ending their relationship with a brief phone call lasting only 27 seconds.

"When I finally discover the person who truly suits me, he will be absolutely amazing. When I lay my eyes on that individual, the memory of the guy who ended our relationship over the phone in a mere 25 seconds when I was eighteen will cease to exist," shared the "Anti-Hero" singer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in October 2008. "I actually checked the call history, and it was just 27 seconds. That must be some kind of record."

Several years later, Swift revisited these remarks during her appearance on the same show in May 2019.

"That was overwhelming. I was only 18," she confided to host Ellen DeGeneres. "Now we can joke about it, but at the time, I was being quite outspoken. It was just typical teenage behavior."

A month later, Jonas acknowledged that he appreciated Swift's remorseful acknowledgment of her actions.

is something that used to bother me when I was younger, but in the long run, I have overcome it and I believe Taylor has as well, which is a pleasant feeling," he mentioned in an interview on Lorraine in June 2019. "We have all remained friends, and everything is going well."
