During her concert in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 1st, Taylor Swift thrilled fans by adding a third surprise song to the setlist. As a special treat, she performed a live rendition of "Ivy" alongside collaborator Aaron Dessner and also invited Gracie Abrams, one of her tour's opening acts, to join her on stage for a memorable performance.
Swift expressed her affection for Gracie, whom she considers one of her favorite friends, and expressed her disappointment that they hadn't performed together before. Swift shared this sentiment with concertgoers on Saturday, mentioning that she was disappointed that Abrams didn't get to perform due to unforeseen weather changes. Prior to the concert, Swift had tweeted about a weather situation, which prompted her to start the show at Paycor Stadium an hour earlier. Unfortunately, this change in plans resulted in the cancellation of Abrams' performance slot.
Instead, Swift mesmerized the Ohio-based crowd with a heartfelt rendition of Gracie's "I Miss You, I'm Sorry" live.
"I'm speechless," Gracie remarked during the show, taken aback by Swift's declaration that the song held a special place among her favorites. As Gracie skillfully played the tune on the piano, the talented actress from "Valentine's Day" added depth with the gentle strumming of her acoustic guitar.
Swift launched her Eras Tour in March, marking her first live concert tour since her 2018 album Reputation. The tour showcases a mix of her past albums and re-recorded LPs, with the setlist surprising fans by including at least two unexpected songs per show. Teasing fans at her Arlington, Texas show, Swift playfully challenged their attempts to predict the setlist, emphasizing that the Eras Tour is known for its playful and unpredictable nature.
Swift, who later stated that she will play "Midnights" songs multiple times, also treated her audience to a performance of "Call It What You Want" from her album "Reputation" during her Saturday show. Moreover, in anticipation of her re-recorded album set to be released on July 7, Swift has recently incorporated more singles from her album "Speak Now" into her "Eras" set.
"I am releasing this album to assert my ownership over my music and support other artists who also want to own their own music. During a recent concert in Minnesota, I introduced the surprise song 'Dear John' and expressed my motivation behind this album. Despite being 33 years old, I only hold significance in the songs I wrote during my younger years. Therefore, my intention with this album is not to prompt fans to defend me online against anyone they may believe the song is about from years ago."
