Carlo Mendez recently shared some insights on his sister Eva Mendes' relationship with Ryan Gosling during an exclusive interview with We. He mentioned that the key to their strong bond is their great understanding and effective communication. Carlo made these comments while attending the Children Uniting Nation’s 24th Annual Academy Awards Celebration and Viewing Dinner in Beverly Hills on Sunday, March 10.

Mendez, who is 46 years old, thinks that all relationships, whether they are in Hollywood or not, can thrive by sticking to two basic rules.

According to the actor, "I believe that communication and empathy are crucial in any relationship. It's important to talk things out and to understand each other's perspectives. When you do that, it becomes easier. It's all about communication and empathy. That's what makes a pair soulmates."

Mendez was excited to see his brother-in-law Gosling, 43, get nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2024 Oscars for his performance in Barbie. He was looking forward to seeing Gosling perform a song from the popular movie on stage.

Mendes, who is 50 years old, expressed her support for Gosling on Instagram by posting a picture outside his dressing room. Meanwhile, Gosling was seen walking the red carpet with his sister Mandi Gosling.

Before the show started at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, she wrote, "Always by my man." Mendez has taken a break from acting since 2014 and is known for choosing not to go to red carpet events with her partner.

Although Mendez didn't reveal their plans for Oscar Sunday, he mentioned that his sister and Gosling would likely spend the day with their two daughters, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7, focusing on family time.

Mendez emphasized the importance of family, stating, "Family always comes first. What else do you have in life if you don't have family?" According to a recent source for a cover story, the couple is focused on maintaining a sense of normalcy for their daughters and avoiding the Hollywood spotlight.

Mendez was eager to express his love for his two nieces when asked about being an uncle.

"They're young, crazy, and wild, so sometimes I just feel like saying, 'Hi, how are you doing?' and then stepping back," he joked. "I'm not really into taking care of or babysitting."

When asked if he wants his sister and Gosling to have more kids, Mendez simply replied, "I think they're good with just one for now."

While watching the 2024 Oscars telecast, Mendez decided to wear the same Gucci suit he wore to the 2024 SAG Awards, where he bumped into Gosling.

As award season wraps up, Mendez isn't shocked at all that Gosling was highly praised for his portrayal of Ken.

"He told Us that they didn't expect the movie to make a billion dollars. But he can see now that it did. It seems like people either really liked it or really disliked it, and clearly more people liked it.

Mendez mentioned that he enjoyed watching it and had a good time."
