Hailee Steinfeld, who stars in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has revealed new photos of herself dressed as her character, Gwen Stacy. Steinfeld first portrayed Spider-Gwen in the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and has returned for a larger role in the sequel. As fans continue to rave about the Spider-Verse follow-up, they now have a glimpse of what Steinfeld could look like as Gwen Stacy in live-action. The actress shared pictures on Instagram of herself wearing attire resembling Gwen Stacy's school uniform from the animated film.
Gwen's popularity in the Spider-Verse franchise has remained constant, and it seems that she will continue to play a significant role in the upcoming film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, as hinted at in the conclusion of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. As the second movie will feature live-action components, it is possible that Steinfeld may soon be seen portraying Gwen in a live-action format.
Will Gwen Stacy Appear On-Screen In Live-Action?
There are a few potential avenues for Gwen Stacy's introduction in live-action, one of which is tied to the Spider-Verse franchise. In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, live-action elements were incorporated, featuring appearances by Venom's Mrs. Chen and Donald Glover as the Prowler, both presumably from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film also included footage from previous Spider-Man iterations, including Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire's versions, and even made a reference to Tom Holland's MCU Peter Parker.
There is a strong possibility that Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and the rest of the Spider-Verse team could encounter live-action characters, including the three cinematic Spider-Men, as the franchise continues to expand with each new movie. While it was once rumored that Holland would appear in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, it's possible that this crossover event could be saved for the finale of the trilogy. In addition, Gwen Stacy could potentially appear in the MCU in a more traditional role, providing support to Holland's Peter Parker, who finds himself alone after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. While Steinfeld may not be able to reprise her role as Spider-Gwen in live-action, her talents have been showcased in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which bodes well for her future in animation.
