Reba McEntire will be hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards for the 17th time on May 16 in Frisco, Texas. At 69 years old, she has won 16 ACM Awards and was named ACM Entertainer of the Year in 1994. In addition to hosting the 59th ACMs, she will also be performing new music on stage.
This year, the Entertainer of the Year nominees at the ACM Awards include Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, and Lainey Wilson. Wallen leads with six nominations, including Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for One Thing at a Time.
Despite being a top contender for multiple awards, Wallen's participation in the ceremony is overshadowed by legal issues. On April 7, he was arrested and charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment for throwing a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar.
He wrote via X last week, breaking his silence on the issue, "I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility."
Jelly Roll is also up for four awards, including Single of the Year for his song "Need a Favor."
