Golfer Harry Higgs honored the memory of Grayson Murray with a heartfelt message.

In a touching moment, Higgs, aged 32, made history by winning two consecutive Korn Ferry Tour tournaments in a playoff. During his acceptance speech, he took the time to talk about Murray, who tragically passed away at the young age of 30 on Saturday, May 25th.

Higgs addressed the crowd at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee on Sunday, May 26. He began by acknowledging that his message might touch on some deep topics.

Higgs praised Murray for his openness about his mental health struggles. He described Murray as someone who had faced many challenges and had been honest and candid about his experiences.

"I had a terrible night's sleep last night, even though I usually sleep like a log," Higgs chuckled before turning serious. "I was thinking about this moment and how we can honor Grayson."

Despite his success in golf, Higgs admitted, "It just doesn't feel that significant."

Let's all make an effort to spread kindness every day. Start by saying something nice to a loved one, and don't forget to compliment someone you don't know as well. The audience, previously captivated, broke into applause.

"The world can be tough and it seems to be getting tougher," Higgs shared. "I've been lucky to have wonderful parents and a strong support network, so I haven't faced many mental battles, aside from some occasional frustrations. But I know that many people do, and that number is growing."

He added, "Each one of us has the power to make a difference. To be the difference. A simple act of kindness can make someone's day brighter. It could mean everything to them."

After Murray’s passing, his parents Eric and Terry Murray, released a statement via the PGA.

"We are still trying to process the reality that our son is no longer with us. It feels so surreal to not only accept it ourselves, but also to share this heartbreaking news with the world. It's like living in a nightmare."

We are grateful to the PGA Tour and the golf community for their overwhelming support during this difficult time. Grayson faced challenges in life, but we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace.

Ted Kiegiel, Murray's coach and mentor for many years, also fondly remembered him.

I am devastated by the loss of Grayson. He was not just a friend, but like family to me. We shared so many happy moments together, as well as supported each other through difficult times.
