After golfer Grayson Murray passed away, his coach, Ted Kiegiel, who had been with him for over twenty years, expressed his sorrow in a heartfelt statement.
On Sunday, May 26, Ted Kiegiel shared his feelings, saying, “I’m devastated by the loss of Grayson. He wasn't just a student, he was like family to me." He continued, “We shared many highs and lows together, facing the challenges of life side by side.”
Murray passed away on Saturday, May 25, at the age of 30. His family shared in a statement the next day that he had taken his own life.
Kiegiel, who had worked with Murray for over 20 years, mentioned that they had spent many hours together.
"Our journey started when Grayson's dad, Eric, scheduled a golf lesson with me when Grayson was 8 years old," he shared. "Little did we know, that meeting would lead to a lifelong bond for us."
Kiegiel described Murray as "a kind and gentle soul" with "the heart of a Lion."
Kiegiel wrote that Grayson's true character was rooted in love and kindness towards those he knew or encountered. He attributed these qualities to Grayson's parents, Eric and Terry Murray, whom he deeply loves and cares for, referring to them as the salt of the Earth.
