Glen Powell Reflects on His Role in 'Spy Kids 3' with a Playful Nod to 'Dune'

Glen Powell, known as one of Hollywood's most thrilling actors, always remembers his roots. At 35 years old, the star of Top Gun: Maverick considers his debut in Spy Kids 3: Game Over to be a defining moment in his career.

Powell expressed his love for the 2003 spy action comedy during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on May 22. He reminisced about shooting his part at 13 years old and hanging out behind the camera. The crew's fascinating jobs and the friendships he made on set made the Spy Kids experience one of the best days of his life.

In a playful manner, the actor even made a comparison between the film and the Academy award-winning film Dune released in 2021.

During the chat, Powell jokingly referred to Spy Kids 3 as our Dune.

To show his love for Spy Kids 3, Powell posted a picture of himself in the movie on social media on Friday, May 24. He captioned it with, "All my real ones put your Long Fingers up."

Powell, known for his role as 'Long-fingered Boy' in the film, starred alongside Antonia Banderas and Sylvester Stallone.

These days, Powell's career is on the upswing. He recently took on the roles of actor, producer, and co-writer for Netflix's Hit Man, which premiered on Friday, May 24th.

Powell reunited with director Richard Linklater for the project, recalling their previous collaboration on the 2006 film Fast Food Nation when Powell was just 14 years old.

“I remember being 14 and working on that set,” Powell shared exclusively with We. “I had a small role with just a line or two. It may have seemed insignificant, but for me, it was a huge deal to have even a small part in a Richard Linklater film.”

He continued, "To fast forward almost 20 years later and now to consider him a collaborator, colleague, and friend, it's truly amazing. The way this moment has come full circle is not lost on me. It feels pretty surreal. I am grateful for the opportunity to work on the types of movies that initially inspired me to enter this industry. Many of the projects I am involved in are in genres that I personally enjoy, so I am striving to offer audiences the kind of films that I would love to watch in the theater."
