While filming their romantic comedy, Anyone But You, Glen Powell had no problem acting as if he was falling for his costar Sydney Sweeney.

"A successful rom-com depends on great chemistry, and Sydney is so easy to have chemistry with," Powell, 35, shared in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on December 7. "It felt like we had known each other forever from the start, and anyone on set can tell you that I never get tired of talking to Sydney."

Powell praised Sweeney, 26, as “one of the most gifted actresses in our industry,” highlighting their strong rapport and mutual enjoyment of making each other laugh.

“She’s incredible,” he enthused. “Working with Sydney has felt like being in a romantic comedy itself. She's so easy to fall in love with on screen.”

Powell and Sweeney were revealed as the leads of Anyone But You in January. The movie traces the story of Ben (Powell) and Bea (Sweeney) as their romance starts to sour following a spectacular first date. They are later unexpectedly thrust into a destination wedding in Australia, where they must pretend to be a couple to maintain appearances.

“Being in a rom-com, all these notions of love are swirling around in your head while these grand romantic moments are unfolding,” Powell shared with ET while filming the movie. “So, it can be challenging to distinguish between real life and fake life.”

Sweeney and Powell initially traveled to Australia in April to shoot the movie. As soon as images of the pair lounging in swimsuits on set emerged, speculations about their romantic involvement started circulating, even though they were both in committed relationships at the time. Sweeney has been engaged to Jonathan Davino since 2022, while Powell was in a relationship with Gigi Paris.

In April, it was confirmed that Powell and Paris had ended their three-year relationship. The next month, a source told Us that the romance rumors had posed a "huge test" for Sweeney's relationship with Davino, but she and Powell remained professional despite growing close on set.

"In November, Powell told Men's Health magazine that when the rumors went public, it felt disorienting and unfair. But now I realize that it's just part of the job," he said.

Sweeney, on the other hand, expressed to Variety in August that the key to filming a romantic comedy is chemistry, and she insisted that she and Powell are unfazed by the attention. "We truly enjoy each other's company and have a deep level of respect for each other. He's diligent and hardworking, and so am I," she said. "We're looking forward to the press tour and I just finished ADR with him. We constantly joke with each other saying, 'That's hilarious!'"

When asked about her time with Powell on set, Sweeney told ET  that the twosome had an “amazing” experience together.
