During an interview with We in September 2017, Malik mentioned that despite the intense media attention surrounding their relationship, both he and Hadid prioritize their personal bond.

"We don't dwell on [dating in the public eye]," he stated. "Many individuals are overly involved in others' lives. I solely focus on my relationship, treating my girlfriend well, and she reciprocates. We hope for the best, just like everyone else!"

Despite their multiple breakups, notably between January 2019 and January 2020 when she briefly dated Bachelorette alum Tyler Cameron, Hadid and Malik rekindled their romance in early 2020. They eventually welcomed their daughter later that year.

In October 2021, multiple sources confirmed to Us that the pair had once again ended their relationship. This came after Yolanda Hadid alleged that she had a physical altercation with the musician, resulting in his arrest and four criminal charges of harassment. Despite vehemently denying the accusations, he ultimately pleaded no contest. "Zayn and Gigi have quietly split," a source exclusively informed Us. "They had been experiencing difficulties for some time and tried to work through them, but it simply wasn't successful."

According to an insider who spoke to Us in June 2022, the duo maintains a loving and caring relationship despite their breakup. Their main focus is on co-parenting Khai as harmoniously as possible.
