Get ready! Major League Baseball athletes have managed to charm celebrities like Kate Upton, Hannah Jeter (formerly known as Hannah Davis), and JoAnna Garcia Swisher throughout the years.
Before her husband, Nick Swisher, was drafted in 2002 by the Oakland Athletics, Garcia had already established herself as an actress for over ten years. Two years after being drafted, Swisher made his MLB debut with the Oakland As, showcasing his skills both in the outfield and at first base.
Following two trades, first to the Chicago White Sox and then to the New York Yankees, the athlete married the Reba alum in 2010 after six years in the league. (He later played for the Cleveland Indians and the Atlanta Braves before retiring in 2015.)
"He displayed unwavering consistency and a strong determination to prove himself. He made it clear that he did not want to be seen as a typical athlete," JoAnna revealed exclusively to We in February 2018 as she reminisced about how she fell in love with her husband. "His honesty was refreshing. He assured me that he had no interest in dating anyone else, and that he would consistently remind me of his commitment. That really resonated with me, showing his true dedication."
The duo, who have two daughters together, were introduced by a mutual friend. Despite not initially being attracted to someone in his profession, the Astronaut Wives Club alum quickly realized the appeal of her now partner. Meeting him for the first time at a baseball game where he was playing against the Mets, she was struck by his refreshing personality and kindness. He lived up to her expectations and turned out to be exactly the person she had imagined him to be - a genuine and kind-hearted individual.
It seems that both Upton and Jeter have been equally fortunate in finding their happily ever afters. Upton found hers in Justin Verlander, while Jeter found his in Derek Jeter.
Upton's relationship with the pitcher garnered major attention in November 2017 when Verlander triumphed in the World Series and tied the knot with the Sports Illustrated model in the same month.
"I was aware that she was making a change, but I had no idea what it was," Verlander revealed exclusively to Us in March 2018, recalling his wife's stunning and seductive "late night" wedding dress designed by Christy Rilling Studio. "The moment I laid eyes on her in that gown, I knew it was time to go. The wedding was complete!"
Eight months later, their first child, a baby girl, was joyfully welcomed by the couple. When Us interviewed Verlander in March 2019, he couldn't contain his admiration for Upton's journey into motherhood.
"She has been an incredible woman and mother," he expressed. "I always knew she would serve as a wonderful role model for our daughter, regardless of the circumstances. It's her character that I fell in love with, the same character I've always admired for its resilience."
