Ahead of its highly anticipated sequel's release in February 2024, Square Enix has released a story recap video titled "Final Fantasy VII Rebirth" to explain the events leading up to it.
This video primarily focuses on the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Narrated by Red XIII, it offers a concise summary of the Remake, without incorporating any narrative elements from the Compilation games such as Crisis Core or Dirge of Cerberus, which have surprisingly proven to be significant to the overall plot of the Remake trilogy. However, as a starting point, this video serves as a helpful tool for those without prior experience with the game or as a quick refresher for fans to remember where the previous game left off. The video will be included in the full release of the game.
The Rebirth team has hinted at forthcoming changes to Rebirth's storyline, which they state will build up to the Forgotten Capital segment of the original game. The game is also slated to offer a whopping 100+ hours of gameplay, encompassing a multitude of side quests, minigames, and secret locations to uncover. Some of these activities were showcased at TGS, featuring footage of Cocobo farms, piano playing, and a card game called Queen's Blood.
Scheduled for launch on February 29, 2024, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will initially be available exclusively on PS5. The exclusivity period will span three months, although it remains uncertain if or when other versions will be released.
Editor's P/S
As a Gen Z fan, I am incredibly excited for the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The original Final Fantasy VII is one of my favorite games of all time, and I have been eagerly anticipating the release of the remake since it was first announced. The new recap video has only served to increase my excitement, as it provides a glimpse into the epic story that is to come.
I am particularly intrigued by the hints that the storyline will be changing in Rebirth. The original game is a classic, but I am excited to see how the developers will put their own spin on the story. I am also looking forward to the new gameplay features, such as the 100+ hours of gameplay and the new side quests, minigames, and secret locations. Overall, I believe that Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has the potential to be one of the best games of the year, and I cannot wait to get my hands on it.
