Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for a limited period of three months. The release dates for other versions are still unknown, as stated in a footnote during the game's September State of Play trailer, which mentioned that it will not be available on other formats until May 29, 2024, at the earliest. Given that Rebirth is set to release on February 29, 2024, this means that Sony has secured a three-month exclusivity deal with Square Enix. The launch dates for PC or Xbox versions are currently a matter of speculation.
Final Fantasy VII Remake was initially released in April 2020, followed by the PS5 upgrade, Intergrade, in June 2021. The PC version was released later in December of the same year. However, the game has not yet been made available on Microsoft's console. In a recent interview with IGN, Xbox boss Phil Spencer hinted that both Rebirth and Remake may be released on Xbox in the future.
During the September State of Play, a trailer was showcased, revealing the release date of Rebirth and featuring several significant scenes from the second chapter of the trilogy. This included the first appearances of characters like Cait Sith and Vincent Valentine, as well as locations such as Kalm, Junon, and the Golden Saucer. Square Enix also announced that Rebirth will lead up to the Forgotten Capital, with the possibility of surprises along the way.
