Xbox enthusiasts can now enjoy playing retro PlayStation 1 games on their console, courtesy of the innovative cloud-based service called Antstream Arcade.

In a remarkable collaboration, Microsoft has joined forces with Antstream Arcade to introduce an extensive collection of over 1,300 timeless video games to the Xbox ecosystem. This impressive assortment encompasses revered titles from the acclaimed PlayStation 1 platform.

Antstream Arcade is continually expanding its collection of retro games from various systems, including a growing selection of PlayStation 1 games that are being made compatible with online leaderboards and challenges. In addition, Xbox enthusiasts will soon have the opportunity to enjoy a range of PlayStation 1 games through the new cloud-based service provided by Antstream Arcade. With an initial offering of two classic PlayStation 1 games, the service already boasts over 1000 classic titles from the ’80s and ’90s.

87% of classic games made before 2010 are no longer available for purchase, potentially causing beloved games to be lost forever. To address this issue, Microsoft has partnered with the retro gaming cloud service Antstream Arcade to bring over 1,300 classic video games to the Xbox ecosystem. This service offers games from various retro systems, including the PlayStation 1. Currently, Antstream Arcade has two PS1 games available: 40 Winks, a 3D platformer featuring siblings Ruff and Tuble on a dream world exploration, and Loaded, a top-down shooter with six unique playable characters.

As announced during July's Antstream Connect, more classic PlayStation games will be added to Antstream Arcade in the near future. These include long-lost titles like Glover, a distinctive platformer featuring a magical four-fingered glove on a quest to restore his kingdom, and MDK, also known as "Murder, Death, Kill," a third-person shooter with advanced 3D gameplay and weaponry for its time. Additionally, the classic game Worms will make a comeback, offering its signature 2D team-based tactical experience and turn-based gameplay. Lastly, the sequel to Loaded, Reloaded, will also be included in the service.

The Antstream Connect highlights a collection of at least twelve undisclosed PS1 games, providing a sneak peek for passionate fans of the classic PlayStation. However, there is currently no specific timeline for the release of more PS1 games on the platform. Antstream has assured that a significant number of PlayStation 1 games will become available once online leaderboards and challenges are prepared for each title.

Access to Antstream Arcade is available for purchase at $29.99 per year or $79.99 for lifetime access. Currently, the service includes representation of over fifteen iconic systems such as Atari, Sega Genesis, and the Super Nintendo. While first-party games like Mario Bros. are not offered, players can expect a wide array of timeless arcade games and rare third-party retro titles, including Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures.
