For the first time, Michelle Williams and Britney Spears, both having achieved incredible success in their respective fields, are on the cusp of aligning their remarkable accomplishments.
43-year-old Williams has been chosen to narrate the audiobook for Spears' upcoming release, "The Woman in Me," as reported by People. The acclaimed actress from "Fabelmans" expressed her support for the 41-year-old singer by stating, "I stand with Britney."
In July, Spears shared the news of her debut book, titled after a line from her song "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman." The book is set to be published on October 24, 2023, under Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books imprint.
Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom expressed in a press release that Britney's powerful testimony in court had a significant global impact, leading to changes in laws and showcasing her remarkable strength and bravery. Bergstrom confidently anticipates that Britney's memoir, titled The Woman in Me, will have a similar influential effect and become the most noteworthy publishing event of the year. The book is described as an incredibly emotional narrative highlighting themes of freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, and hope. It aims to provide Britney with the opportunity to share her personal stories on her own conditions, as stated in the press release.
Spears has often provided glimpses of her writing process through her Instagram, and a source revealed in March 2022 that she will be completely candid about the subject matter.
Another source recently informed Us that the Grammy winner intends to revisit aspects of her previous relationships, notably her romance with Justin Timberlake. The source stated, "He won't be pleased," in the latest edition of We, adding that Spears will confront him directly.
Britney aims to convey the truth regarding her tumultuous relationships, which include her parents Jamie and Lynne Spears. However, she has no intention of vindictively criticizing anyone with her words.
"In October, another source stated that she will simply present the facts from her own point of view."
More information about Britney's literary work or Williams' involvement has yet to be disclosed. The two women already share a somewhat notable past.
In 1999, reports surfaced that Dawson's Creek, the series that launched Williams' career, had considered having Britney make a guest appearance.
"I will be filming it in October, shooting three episodes," Britney hinted to Entertainment Tonight. "They just informed me yesterday that I'm supposed to play a dork, but that's okay."
Britney also expressed her excitement about recording the episodes as she profoundly stated that she absolutely adores the show.
Despite not making a cameo on the teen series, Britney signed a TV development deal with Columbia TriStar Television, the studio behind Dawson's Creek, to create her own show. Britney's representative, Rob Lee, stated in March 1999 that Columbia TriStar Television had considerable expertise in this area and cited the success of the Brandy experience with Moesha. He emphasized the importance of timing to ensure that both projects could thrive without interfering with each other.
The Woman in Me, currently available for preorder, hits bookstore shelves on Tuesday, October 24.
